Snow Days
After consultation with the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic School’s Office and consideration of a multitude of factors, including access to teacher’s access to in-school materials, parent commutes, and childcare, it has been decided that snow days, early dismissals, and delayed openings will be true school closures and class cancellations, for the time being. However, the Secretary for Catholic Schools reserves the right to transition from snow days to virtual learning, if a school/region/ADW experiences several missed school days.
This means the following:
- Schools Closed: There are no classes that day. Any work that was due that day will be due the following school day. This also applies to Friday asynchronous days. No students will be in school.
- One or Two Hour Delay: Classes will begin at 9:30 or 10:30, respectively. Specials will be cancelled. Middle school should log into their first period class. In school students should arrive at 9:00 or 10:00, respectively. If this falls on a Friday, teachers may lessen the workload accordingly. A determination about Mass will take place that morning. Should a delay be called on a half day, school will be closed.
- One/Two Hour Early Dismissal: Classes will end early, with no modifications to the schedule. If this falls on a Friday, teachers may lessen the workload accordingly. In school students shouldhave a plan in place for emergency pick-up. Children may only be released to parents, guardians, or adults authorized on Emergency Forms. The Extended Care Program is subject to the same directives for schools regarding delays or closings. If there is a delayed opening on a scheduled early dismissal day, school will be closed that day.
Parents and teachers will be notified about inclement weather closures through APNotify. This sends a voicemail, email, and text to the information listed in TADS. Please ensure your cell phone number is listed in the CELL PHONE field on TADS. A message will not get sent to phone numbers in other fields. We will do a test run tomorrow, Tuesday December 15 at 10:00am. If you do not receive the alert, please call the office.
