Scholarships
Groups Scholars Program - IU Bloomington (This is only for those looking at IU)
Amount: 100% Full Ride (includes Tuition, Room & Board, and Books).
Deadline: November 1, 2016
A recommendation from a Groups Scholars Recommender is the only way to gain opportunity to apply to the Groups Scholars Program. You must;1 - Be a US Citizen & a resident of the state of Indiana
2 - Meet the Minimum College Prep Courses;
- 8 credits of English
- 7 credits of math (must include at least 1 semester of pre-calc, calc or trig).
- 6 credits of social science
- 6 credits of science
- 4 credits of world languages
- 3 or more credits of additional college prep course.
3 - You must meet the income guidelines. (This scholarship is based on financial need) See Ms. Torres for income guidelines.
4 - Preference will be given to 1st generation students.
5 - Have a MANDATORY minimum GPA of at least 2.5
6 - Take the SAT by Oct 1st or ACT by Sept. 10th 2016. Minimum cumulative of 750 for the SAT or 13 for the ACT
7 - MANDATORY that the FAFSA is filled out by Nov. 1st 2016. Your income will be verified through the IRS data retrieval tool through Indiana University's Financial Aid Office. A high EFC (Expected Family Contribution) as determined by the FAFSA reduces the amount of the Groups Grant you receive.

FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIPS at INDIANA UNIVERSITY NORTHWEST (Gary, IN)
Below are scholarships available directly from IU Northwest for the 2017-18 academic year. These scholarships are to be used to cover costs associated only with IU Northwest courses. These scholarship awards are not transferable to any other IU campus or other institutions.

Early admission to IU Northwest and completion of the Freshman Scholarship Interest Form,http://www.iun.edu/admissions/docs/Interest-form.pdf is the best way to assure admissions-based scholarship consideration. Award notifications to selected recipients will begin going out February 1st.
To be considered for competitive scholarships it is the student's responsibility to complete the application and submit it before the deadline indicated. Applications for competitive scholarships are available below.

To be eligible for consideration, student must be admitted to the university and completed the Freshman Scholarship Interest Form and/or application prior to the deadline for scholarship (in parenthesis). Scholarships are for first semester Freshman enrolling in the fall semester directly from high school and will be effective the fall 2017 semester.
- SAT total refers only to Critical Reading plus Math scores.
- ACT score refers to composite score.
- GPA is based on a 4.0 scale.
- Rank is based on 7th semester.
- Be a full-time (> 12 credit hours) student, per semester.
Admissions-based Scholarships / No additional application is required
High School Seniors who enroll directly from a state accredited high school may be eligible for one of the following scholarships. Students must meet the selection criteria and be admitted by December 1 and accept the scholarship by March 1.
In order to be reevaluated for scholarship eligibility after admission, it is the student's responsibility to contact the Office of Admissions if they achieve a qualifying cumulative GPA or obtain qualifying SAT/ACT scores prior to the December 1st deadline.
- Valedictorian Scholarship
Incoming full-time freshman ranked #1 in their high school graduating class, with a 3.5 cumulative GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1170 (ACT 24). Award is for tuition and fees for a maximum of 126 credit hours, renewable with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. The number of awards is based on available funding. - Special Academic Scholarship Tier Two (Deadline: Admitted by December 1 and accept the scholarship by March 1)
Incoming full-time freshman who has a 3.5 cumulative GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1220 (ACT 25). Award is for $5,000 per academic year, renewable for three additional years with a 3.3 cumulative GPA. - Special Academic Scholarship Tier One (Deadline: Admitted by December 1 and accept the scholarship by March 1)
Incoming full-time freshman who has a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1170 (ACT 24). Award is $4,000 per academic year, renewable for three additional years with a 3.3 cumulative GPA. - Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship (Deadline: Admitted by December 1 and accept the scholarship by March 1)
Incoming full-time freshman with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and SAT scores of 1080 (ACT 22). Award is for $1,000 per academic year, renewable for three additional years with a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Competitive Scholarships / Additional Application Required
High School Seniors who enroll directly from an Indiana state-accredited high school may be eligible for one of the following renewable scholarships:
- Chase Scholarship (Deadline: February 1)
Preference will be given to African-American or Latino students, who reside in Lake or Porter County in Indiana, and have demonstrated financial need. To compete for this award, students should rank in the top 25% of their graduating class and demonstrate leadership ability. Performance on the SAT shall be given consideration. Renewable with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Award amount varies. Print cover letter (for scholarship requirements) and application. - Chase Fellows Scholarship (Deadline: February 1)
To compete for this award, students should have demonstrated leadership skills, a composite SAT score of 1000 or higher, in critical reading and math, and rank in the top 33% of their graduating class. Award amount vaires. Renewable with a 3.3 cumulative GPA. Print cover letter (for scholarship requirements) and application. - National Science Foundation Scholarship (Deadline: March 1) This scholarship is to be awarded to students who are academically qualified (Cumulative GPA of 3.2 and SAT combined Verbal and Math score of 910), demonstrate financial need, and are interested in pursuing a B.S. in biology, chemistry, geology, computer information systems (CIS), actuarial science, or mathematics full-time at IU Northwest. The scholarship will award up to $10,000 per year for four years, covering the cost of tuition and living expenses, based on Indiana resident tuition rates. Incoming freshman are eligible to apply.
- IUN Theatre Patron Scholarship (Deadline: June 1) This scholarship is to be awarded to an incoming freshman at IUN with a high school grade point average of "B" or better from Lake or Porter County. The scholarship will be a minimum of $500.00 per year, funds permitting, and will be awarded by a committee of IUN faculty based on student's audition and/or portfolio presentation.
