Thursday is the last day for students before winter break. We hope everyone stays safe and finds time to rest and recharge. Schools will be open on January 9 for the teacher in-service workday. Students return to class on January 10.

With support of so many Chandler Unified schools and local businesses, as well as our amazing partners like the Chandler Fire Department, the Chandler CARE Center packed over 6,000 toys for 1,231 Chandler kids! The annual CARE Center Family Assistance Day was a huge success, and we are SO grateful for the many partners and donors and volunteers who made this possible. ❤️ #wearechandlerunified

The Payne Junior High School Builders Club recently sponsored a holiday toy drive to benefit the Chandler CARE Center's gift giving program. The students, parents and staff at PJHS donated approximately 300 toys for this great cause. Payne Panthers, we are so proud of your generosity! Thank you for making this holiday season a brighter one for so many families!

Willis Junior High is in the second year of a partnership with Arizona State University called Math Momentum. We have four virtual mathematics teachers (hired by ASU) who collaborate with four math teachers at Willis to provide targeted support for students. This is done in a blended learning environment. Students frequently rotate between stations – working independently, working with the classroom teacher, and working with the Math Momentum virtual teacher. It is a very purposeful way of integrating technology and ensuring that students receive the specific support they need. Pictured below: Superintendent Frank Narducci sat in one of the classes and worked online with a Math Momentum teacher (who is in Montana).

The "Tech Room" of Santan Junior High School has a beautiful new mural thanks to Hamilton High School AP Art students. Under the direction of teacher Karen Tabor, student Aaron Hernandez worked with a team of his fellow AP Art students to design and paint the wall-sized mural. The students worked very hard, for many afternoons and weekends, to create this completely original artwork that incorporates many different aspects of our area, and school community. While visually stunning, this project also helps the students meet the requirements needed for the fine arts diploma seal. Great job, students!

Please help us congratulate ACP student Kevin Chor. Last month, Kevin won the AIA State Individual Chess Championship.

ACP Middle School offers students a club opportunity called Future City Competition Club. Future City Competition is an international competition (formerly a national competition) in the United States that focuses on improving students' math, engineering, and science skills. The program is open to students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades who attend a public, private or home school.

Guest speakers frequently visit with students in the club. Most recently, the Chandler City Manager, Joshua Wright spoke to students. His presentation focused on what to consider when planning a city.

More than 20 students from Casteel High School auditioned and were accepted into the Junior High Honor Choir, Cantaremos! They rehearsed and learned their challenging music before performing with students from all over the valley to participate in an all-day festival at Camelback High School. Students had the opportunity to work with amazing guest conductors, improve their skills, and make new friends. The event culminated in a fabulous concert that night!

Kitchen staff at Knox Gifted Academy have been working for weeks to decorate the kitchen and get ready to host a ‘fancy’ lunch with the prekindergarten classes. It was truly spectacular.

The Jacobson Jet sixth grade leadership team collected more than 400 gifts to deliver to Hartford Elementary. These young leaders were proud to rally their community and help a sister school! The entire sixth grade teacher-team oversaw the fundraiser and helped students achieve their goal!

Congratulations to our 2022 Chandler Sports League Flag Football Champions, Carlson Elementary School! Six CUSD elementary schools participated this season with Carlson Elementary and Frye Elementary going head-to-head in the final! In the market for a new car? As 2022 wraps up, Subaru Superstore of Chandler is also wrapping up their generous Subaru Share the Love event.
