Announcements & Updates

- March 2 - 6 has been designated "Digital Wellness Week." Throughout the district, students in all grade levels will learn how to be safe and contributing members of the digital community. Students will view videos from Common Sense Media on topics such as protecting personal information, digital footprints, and media balance. Friday, March 6 will be a "Tech Free Day," where neither students nor staff will use instructional technology (teachers will check emails during their planning and prep blocks). For more information, visit https://www.commonsensemedia.org/.

- There is still time to donate to the Market Street Mission food drive. Organized by Mrs. Berish's Advisory group, the food drive will run through Friday, March 6. Items needed include: Canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, cereal, dry goods and staples, powdered drink mixes, ground coffee, sugar and paper products. Donations can be placed in the decorated boxes across from the main office. Feel great - Donate!

- A reminder to 8th grade parents: Previews of 8th grade portraits will be sent home Monday, March 2 and need to be signed for approval and returned by Monday, March 9. This will also include a checklist of what other outstanding items might be necessary on behalf of your student for the Yearbook.

A message from Mrs. Austenberg

As school nurses, Mrs. Pagana and I are working to keep our school community healthy and continually monitoring for illness. We are following CDC guidelines to help prevent the spread of cold and flu viruses. Please see the recommendations below:

  • Stay home when you are sick. If possible, stay home from work, keep children home from school, and delay errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way.

  • Cover coughs and sneezes. Use a tissue to cover coughs and sneezes, then dispose of the tissue. When a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your elbow.

  • Clean and disinfect surfaces or objects. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home and work, especially when someone is ill.

  • Wash hands for 20 seconds. Washing hands often under running water with soap can help prevent the spread of germs. For more guidance see the CDC: When and How to Wash Your Hands. If you cannot wash your hands, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60-95% alcohol.

As always, please reach out to me with any questions or health concerns regarding your child…

Thank you,

Mrs. Austenberg : )
