Parsons Pirates Update

Dear Parsons Families,

We survived our first full week of school! Wow! February is a busy month full of learning, Valentine's Day, the 100th day of school, Kindergarten enrollment, Kids Heart Challenge, and World Kindness Challenge. Let's make it at great month!

We had a great Town Hall meeting on Thursday. We are trying to increase student leadership since we have so many awesome students, Lighthouse Leaders, and Orange Squad. During our Town Hall, students told stories of achieving their goals on the NWEA, did skits about "Putting First Things First," and two Lighthouse Leaders announced our Golden Awards.

Students will have their PBIS party on Tuesday, February 7th at their allotted time in the gym. They will have a paper, snowball fight. Students who were classroom winners for pirate gold won a trip to the treasure box and grade level winners will get to decorate and eat Valentine cookies this week. Keep it up Pirates!

Grandparent's Breakfast is a Parsons tradition. This year's breakfast will be held on February 28th from 7:30-8:30. Here's a sneak peak at the flyer. A paper flyer will come home in backpack mail early next week.

The Scholastic Book Fair is back! It will first be open on the morning of the Grandparent's Breakfast. Check out the following letter for all of the information. Happy Reading!

Kindergarten enrollment for the next school year opens Tuesday, February 21. Kindergarten Round Up will be Tuesday, April 11. Stay tuned for more information! We can't wait to meet our newest pirates!

Carlson is hosting a Daddy Daughter Dance. Parsons will collect exact change and send in forms to Carlson. Please send forms no later than 2/10 so that the money and forms can get there in time.

• Monday 13th- Bright with kindness-wear neon colors

• Tell someone what makes them “bright”!

• Tuesday 14th- Love Yourself Day-Wear Pink/Red (Some grade levels may be different due to 100th day of school)

• Write an “I Am” affirmation for yourself

• Wednesday 15th-Kindness rocks-Dress up as a rockstar

• Write a letter to someone and tell them why they rock

• Thursday 16th- Score points for kindness - Sports day

• Invite a friend to play with you at recess

• Friday 17th- Peace, Love, Kindness - Parsons Spirit Wear

• Complete a Random Act of Kindness

The Kids Heart Challenge is back! Students are learning all about the Kids Heart Challenge and jump roping in gym with Mr. Grima! Check out the family letter to learn how your family can get involved and support heart health!
