Environmental Club GRADES 2-4: PLEASE READ!!!
Do you love our environment? Do you want to help others learn how to decrease their carbon footprint? Do you want to work with others who have similar passions? Join Ms. Murphy in the RES Environmental Club if you want to be a part of making a difference. We will be doing everything “green” and working in the outdoor classroom; exploring, building, and creating.
We will meet 2 Mondays each month (see dates below) from 2:45 - 3:45 pm. Students should bring a snack and be prepared with boots and outdoor gear (appropriate for the weather). Pick up will be at the Leaping Lizards side of the school at 3:45 pm. (We are doing this to avoid confusion with ASE dismissal.) Four students from each grade (2-4), will be randomly picked from all the submissions for that grade. (12 total) Those parents will be notified via email.
Please fill in the attached parent permission form if your child is interested and return to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday, October 7, 2022.

Halloween
Halloween is coming and there have already been some questions and conversation. I wanted to get this out to you all early on so you can plan ahead!
1. Parade and Assembly: We would love to invite families to an 8:30 AM parade and short assembly following. Students in grades K-4 will be parading around the school. These are the two events that all family members will be invited to attend during the day.
3. Parties: When planning, keep in mind the following recommendations from the Wellness Committee for all parties:
• one homemade treat avoiding artificial dyes and/or high fructose corn syrup
• one or two healthy snacks (a great way to get creative with colorful fruits and vegetables)
• one moving activity (relay race, tossing, balancing, wrapping friends in toilet paper)
• one artistic craft as an option
• keep in mind RES efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle
4. Costumes: Students may wear costumes, but weapons (even toys) are not allowed. Gruesome costumes depicting blood are also not allowed.
We do ask that room parents/guardians email the teacher and Lori Flint all food choices a week ahead so there are no surprises and Mrs. Flint can process whether these are safe for all students in a particular class. Please email her if you have questions! lfint@sau50.org
