Family Handbook (p 8):
"Parents need to call the school between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM if their child will be absent from school that day. Parents can leave a message with the school phone system before 7:30 AM. Email to teachers, Pass-A-Notes, Facebook Messenger, or text messages are not immediately available to school administration and are not considered to be acceptable ways to communicate with the school regarding absences."
1. If your child is going to be ABSENT, call the school office before 8:00 AM. The morning is a very busy time in the office so leave a message (please do not keep calling until someone answers). We check the messages before we submit lunch orders so leaving a message is the preferred method.
2. If your child is going to be LATE, call the school office before 8:00 AM. If we are unable to answer, please leave a message that includes which lunch (A, B, C, or lunch from home) your child would like. Lunches to Westside are submitted by 8:30 AM so if your child is late to school and a lunch is not ordered, we'll need a parent to drop off a lunch to the office.
We have been experiencing a high number of tardies and absences with no communication from home. This puts an undue amount of work and stress on us here at school to call home and figure out lunches so every child has something to eat that day. Please follow our school procedures to help our mornings run more smoothly.
