Knightly Update September 5, 2021
ACP High School - Edition Vol 1 Issue 9
Hello! I hope you are enjoying the Labor Day weekend. Our students certainly deserve the extra day of rest and relaxation after the hard work they have put forth thus far. Enjoy the holiday.
For students that plan to enroll in dual enrollment opportunities with CGCC, it is important that upcoming deadlines are met. An email was sent out last week providing links to important information/details about dual enrollment and enrolling in courses. This information is included in today's newsletter as well. If you have any questions about dual enrollment, please visit our guidance center's dual enrollment webpage or contact your child's counselor for assistance.
Each year, I hold four site council meetings. The purpose of these meetings is to share information about our school and gather feedback from attendees. Our first meeting will be held on Thursday at 5:30 in our school's library. If you plan on attending, please email my administrative assistant, Mrs. Wilson, so I can plan appropriately. Thank you.
We continue to look for sponsors for our school and our athletic programs. If you would like to sponsor, please see below or contact our assistant principal/athletic director Jaime McClure. Our athletic department is also selling our fall program which features our fall athletes. If you are interested in purchasing a program, they cost $20 and are sold at home volleyball and football contests. You may also purchase a program by from Ms. McClure’s during regular school hours.
When students return to school on Tuesday, they have just 14 school days until the end of the quarter. Please ensure you are monitoring your child's academic progress via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you have any questions about your child's performance, please contact the appropriate instructor for assistance.
Thanks again for choosing ACP and supporting our school community. Have a very happy Labor Day and please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Enjoy the week.
Rob Bickes
Principal

Dual Enrollment Information & Reminders
The Dual Enrollment registration deadline is September 12th, 2021. To check if a class at ACP is offered for Dual Enrollment credit, please click here to review the ACP High School 2021-22 Dual Credit class list. The enrollment process can take up two weeks so it is important that you start the registration process as soon as possible.
Please refer to the Admissions and Enrollment Process step by step CGCC PowerPoint for guidance in the registration process. Because there are many steps, we encourage you to review the above power points before starting.
If you are a new dual enrollment student please begin the process by clicking HERE.
Returning dual enrollment student step by step instructions can be found here (returning students use the same MEID as in previous years).
Students must meet the prerequisite criteria for the Dual Enrollment course or have a qualifying placement score by taking an appropriate placement test. To review the prerequisite criteria, begin by by visiting CGCC's dual enrollment website. Once on the webpage, click on "Arizona College Prep" to open the course offering spreadsheet. On the spreadsheet, hover over the prerequisites cell to review what your child needs to have (i.e. test score, GPA) or must complete in order to enroll.
All CGCC courses require some form of placement testing or prerequisite. In most cases, juniors and seniors may use their unweighted GPA, or passing ACT/SAT scores to meet the pre-requisite for dual enrollment classes. Freshmen and sophomores can meet the pre-requisite needed for dual enrollment by testing with EdReady. EdReady is a placement test that can be taken online in the student's home. In order to take the placement tests, you will need your MEID number. The EdReady tests are available HERE.
Be sure to review the Prerequisite Placement Chart which includes the EdReady and Accuplacer placement scores students must obtain in order to enroll in specific courses.
All of this information can be found on our school's counseling website as well.
For questions, please feel free to reach out to CGCC at 480-732-7006. Thank you.

Please Make a Tax Credit Donation
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50.00 per family for a total of $57,500.00 and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
