Message From The Principal
Hornet Families,
There are now only 9 school days remaining until Winter break! This upcoming week we have a couple of opportunities for family/community engagement. On Monday and Tuesday, please come out and join us for our Bailey Christmas Chorus Concerts. Monday will feature our Kindergarten and 1st grade students and Tuesday will feature our Bailey Singers Group and 4th grade students. We are excited to celebrate the Holiday season with our families and the community!
Also, this past week all families should have received an email and phone call with important information regarding the updated model release form policy. I have included the information in the newsletter along with a tutorial video. Please be sure to check it out if you have any questions.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support,
Dr. Allen M. Wilson
Principal

Classroom Holiday Celebrations Information for Parents/Guardians
This year we are again permitting parents/guardians to participate in their child's class Holiday celebration. Listed below is information for parents/guardians. Contact your child's teacher for more information about their class celebration.
- Celebrations will be held on Tuesday, December 19th from 1:15 - 2:15.
- Only Parents/Guardians or Grandparents of students will be allowed in classrooms. (No siblings or extended family) This is due to limited space in classrooms.
- All visitors will report to and sign-in at front office upon arrival.
- We will have staff present in the lobby and hall to assist parents/guardians to classrooms.
- Once the class celebration has concluded, students may be checked out by the parent/guardian in each classroom using the form provided to each teacher.
NEW Check-In/Out Time for Student Attendance
Effective on January 8th, 2024, in order for students to be counted in attendance for the school day they must check-in no later than 10:20AM and must not check-out earlier than 12:40PM. These check-in and check-out times reflect and align with NCPS Board Policy 4400.
Important Updated Information on Model Release Forms
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this email finds you well. I'm contacting you about an important update concerning the handling of Model Release forms at Nash County Public Schools in light of North Carolina's recent amendment to the Parents' Bill of Rights. Effective January 1, 2024, we are transitioning from an 'OPT OUT' to an 'OPT-IN' policy for these forms.
This means we will need your explicit consent for your child's participation in activities where their photos may be taken and used in school materials such as yearbooks, Facebook posts, and other educational or promotional content. To streamline this process, we are introducing digital Model Release forms through our app's 'Rooms' feature (also accessible online at edurooms.com). This approach ensures easy access for you and efficient record-keeping for the school.
Where to locate the model release form in rooms?
In the "Rooms" section of the app tailored for your child, you'll find a new addition: a classroom labeled with your child's school name and grade level. Within this classroom, navigate to the "Material" section and select it. Here, you'll find a folder titled "Mandatory." Inside this folder, there's an important link named "Updated Model Release Form." This link leads to the latest version of the model release form, which you'll need to complete to opt your child in.
If you haven't yet set up a 'Rooms' account, please contact your child's school for assistance. This digital system, integrated with our student information system, allows only authorized parents or guardians to view and complete the forms, ensuring the safety and security of your and your child's information.
You will receive a notification in 'Rooms' if your account is linked to your child. This rollout will be gradual, with each school transitioning in phases.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we implement these changes.
