Additional details will continue to be shared through the ELC Family Update and weekly communications from teachers.
We’re excited about all the upcoming events and activities, and we can’t wait to share them with you!

ELC HOUSE SYSTEM
Our focus each year is to build a strong classroom and school community. Our efforts include implementing building-wide expectations, Pom-Pom rewards, and engaging projects that promote family-school connections, special evening events, and opportunities for giving back to the community.
One of the key initiatives we are launching is the ELC HOUSE system, which will begin with a community project to support the New Albany Food Pantry. This project will not only help strengthen our community, but it will also serve as a way for students to feel a sense of belonging and purpose.
Each student will be a part of TEAM EAGLE, while the staff will belong to one of four distinct Houses that align with the colors of the Primary & Intermediate Schools: Red, Blue, Green, and Orange. Each House is represented by an animal and has specific characteristics that reflect the values we want to instill in our students.
In April or May, all Kindergarten students will learn about the basics of each House—its color, animal, and the characteristics it represents, such as kindness, honesty, perseverance and bravery. We will share more details after Spring Break, and classroom teachers will send additional information to families to ensure everyone is informed.
Thank you for your support in helping us build a strong, connected school community. We look forward to the exciting spring season ahead!
HOUSE DRIVEN FOOD DRIVE - FEB. 3- 28
The food drive begins this Monday, February 3 and the staff has decorated their HOUSE table to kick things off! Click Here to find out which HOUSE your child’s teacher represents. Teachers will also share additional information in their weekly communications.
FEBRUARY DATES AND INFORMATION
FEBRUARY 3-28 - NEW ALBANY ELC FOOD DRIVE
FEBRUARY 10 - FEBRUARY 13: KINDNESS WEEK -Kindness Week is an event that celebrates the many ways we can show kindness to one another, both in the classroom and across our entire ELC community! Check out the flyer below for a list of special events happening each day!
FEBRUARY 13 - KINDNESS PARTY - On February 13th, the ELC PTO Head Room Parent (HRP) will host the final classroom party of the 2024-2025 school year. For more details, please refer to the classroom communication. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the classroom HRP.
FEBRUARY 21 - The Early Learning Center (ELC) will host a Winter Walk, an event designed to model and emphasize the importance of staying active and spending time outdoors during the winter months. As part of the experience, students will participate in a movement activity led by Marquette Stankowski. This initiative is made possible through a grant written by Mr. Stankowski to partner with Kindergarten classes for a unit called “Our Animal Discovery.” This is a pilot project where students work together to create a new animal. Their “discovery” will lead them to apply what they are learning about habit, adaptation, survival skills, healthy habits, geometry, coding and counting.
Each teacher will decide if, and how many, families are needed to assist during the outdoor Winter Walk. In the event of inclement weather requiring the walk to be moved indoors, volunteer participation will be limited.

FEBRUARY 25 - On February 25th from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, the ELC will host its first annual ELC Learning Showcase to kick off spring conferences. This event invites students and families to engage in interactive games, stories, and special activities centered on math and literacy concepts. It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to showcase everything they have learned this year!
Teachers will provide a reservation form to confirm your attendance and share additional details about the planned activities for each grade level. Please note that this is a free event. Families are encouraged to arrive by 5:15 PM to enjoy multiple activities, as the event will end promptly at 6:00 PM. To ensure a focused experience, we kindly ask that siblings not attend.
