Principal's Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
This week we held a “Kindergarten Playdate” to welcome new families to Eagle Crest. Our Kindergarten teachers and office staff were able to connect with families and students and our PTO provided coffee and information about upcoming school and community events. It was a sweet morning to share our school motto and vision, “We are leaders We help build a better world” with the newest members of our community. We’ve included some photos below of this fun event.
Starting this week, we will begin sharing profiles to introduce our new staff members to you. This year we are welcoming 11 new staff to the building. It is exciting to be bringing these fresh faces into our classrooms and we know that their combination of skills, expertise, passion for learning and teaching, and warm hearts will help them be a great fit in our school community. Our plan is to start the year by showcasing our newest staff members and then to take the time to introduce all teachers in our building to the wider community through this weekly newsletter. I am looking forward to sharing my wonderful staff with you!
I hope that you have a fabulous weekend and that you are looking forward to the beginning of the new school year!
Warmly,
Amanda

Hello Eagle Crest Families!
I hope you have all had a fantastic summer! I was lucky enough to spend a lot of my time with friends and family playing tennis and pickleball here in town and in the mountains. I had the chance to listen to many audiobooks, podcasts, and complete some home projects, too. While summer always seems to go quickly, we are eager and ready to welcome everyone back to the building for another great school year!
There is one very important change that I want to share with you regarding breakfast and lunch for the upcoming school year. Unfortunately, the federal program that was funding universal meals for every student at school has expired. That means that students will once again be charged for meals at school. Below you can find St. Vrain's breakfast and lunch prices for the 2022-2023 school year.
To prepare for this change, ALL families can now apply for free and reduced lunch/fees. This process can be completed online and will not only reduce fees for meals, but there are also discounts on iPad insurance and other school-related fees for qualifying families.
Apply for Free & Reduced Meals Today!
If you need assistance completing this application or would rather complete a paper application, please reach out to us. Additionally, if your family would prefer to send a cold lunch from home, that is always welcomed as well.
Have a wonderful weekend!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney

PTO Update
Hi Eagle Crest Families,
Our PTO has been busy this summer planning events, brainstorming new ideas and getting organized for the start of the year. The PTO sends a separate newsletter out to families to receive events, volunteer opportunities and more. Subscribe here and follow us on Facebook. Visit www.EagleCrestPTO.com for the latest info. This year, all funding requests will be sent out for a vote in Principal Holden's Thursday Family Newsletter.
We have a few year-long volunteer openings we need filled for this school year including Milk Caps for Moola Coordinator, Gratitude Committee/Conference Meals, Sponsorships, and Treasurer’s Assistant. Learn more about these positions which have varying time commitments. They are perfect for someone new to Eagle Crest or wants to become more involved with PTO! It takes many volunteers to provide support for our school community!
And lastly, we have exciting PTO events coming up:
- Stop by the PTO table to Spin the Wheel at Meet the Teacher on Monday, August 15th and win prizes.
- Two Kona Ice trucks after school (back of the school) on Friday, August 19th for our spirit day. Students wear your Eagle Crest t-shirts to receive one free Kona Ice. Kona Ice will be available for purchase for siblings, friends, etc. after all ECES students receive their free cup.
- Our first Coffee with the Principal & PTO Meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 6th at 8:45 AM outside the front of the school. Principal Holden will be speaking about school safety protocols.
- Welcome Back to School Picnic is Friday, Sept. 16th from 5-7 PM. More details coming soon.
I hope you enjoy these last few weeks of summer break!
See everyone soon,
Jenn Pensy, PTO president

iPad Insurance
We are excited to share that for the 2022-2023 school year SVVSD will continue to provide iPads for all K-5th grade students to use for learning at school and home! Preschool students will have access to classroom iPads. The iPads will all be refreshed, updated and ready for a ton of learning! Continuing this year, the SVVSD policy is that K-5 families will need to purchase insurance in order to offset costs due to lost or damaged iPads. The district offers iPad insurance for $25/year for each student. We believe that every student at Eagle Crest should opt-in to having iPad insurance as a safety-net for any damage or loss. In order to opt into the district insurance and be covered, you must pay at least a portion of the $25 fee. You can find out more details about the coverage in the links below. The fees are available to pay online in your student’s REV TRAK account, or you can bring payment directly to Eagle Crest.

Sunrise Stampede 5K
Each year St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation hosts the Sunrise Stampede 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run to support Special Education Teacher Innovation Grants in St. Vrain Valley Schools. This family oriented run/walk is a great kick off to the new school year. Join us on Saturday, August 13th at Silver Creek High School for a morning of fun and connecting with your friends. Click Here for more information about the race or to register.
In 2021, the Education Foundation started the School Spirit Award as a friendly competition amongst the schools in the district. This traveling trophy is awarded to the St. Vrain Valley School with the highest number of registered race participants. Could Eagle Crest receive the trophy for the 2022/2023 school year?
