Block Island Off Season....
Off Season is for the Adventurous!
Off Season is for the Adventurous!
All of the bike rentals and moped rental agencies are now closed for the season. We encourage you to bring your own. Transportation on the ferry for a bike is only $6.40 round trip! A deal.
There are several shops open during the week, though days and times vary depending on the store. Beachcomber clothing shop, Mahoney's, Island Bound Bookshop, Jessie Edwards Gallery, Red Right Return, The Glass Onion and Lazy Fish are some of the shops you may find open.
The beaches and trails are open, as always. This is a great time of year to hike the island, the trails are uncrowded and you will barely see another footprint on the beaches.
There are still glass floats out there to find...obviously the tougher ones as they still haven't been found, but the hunt is lots of fun.
If you like to geo-cache, there are over 30 geo-cache locations on the island.
The installation of the off-shore windfarm platforms can be seen very clearly from the Mohegan Bluffs and the Southeast Lighthouse grounds.
Horseback trail and beach rides are still available.
The grounds of both lighthouses are open. The interiors are closed for the season.
Give us a call at 800-383-2474 if you have questions about your trip to Block Island off season.
