The Walker Talker
Walker Career Center weekly update - January 31, 2020
PINK WEEK
Nothing better than a little Spirit Week to wrap up the first month of 2020! This week, our students and staff were able to wear GLOW attire, Graphic Tee's and Shorts, Which is Which (aka: Twin Day), Sheldon Day/ NFL celebration, and today is PINK OUT. Always exciting to see our students and staff showing off their school pride!
Former Walker Career Center student, Sheldon Day, will be participating in Super Bowl LIV
During Spirit Week, students and staff were able to celebrate WCC and WCHS alum Sheldon Day. Sheldon was a member of the Finance Academy during his time in Warren. Mrs. Stigger stated that Sheldon was a great student and always very respectful. Best of luck to Sheldon this Sunday!
Everything goes right back together, right?
Students in Human Development and Wellness illustrated the joys and challenges of families by breaking clay pots and putting them back together.
Practice makes perfect!
Students in Early Childhood Education work hard at perfecting their craft for their classrooms. In addition to creating positive relationships with their students, individuals in this class learn to create lesson plans as well as how to collaborate with other individuals to problem solve. At times, the lesson does not go as planned so they are required to work together in attempt to perfect the experiment. As demonstrated in the pictures below, Brittany and Leslie are practicing their Science Lesson Plan. They read the directions, implemented the project, and were not happy with the results. After collaboration among the two of them, they solicited feedback from peers and were able to make the appropriate changes. In the end, they had a successful science lesson!
Resume Building
Hard to believe it, but our seniors are only 124 days away from post-secondary life! In order to assist with some of the challenges that await them, Mrs. Strother worked with Lakeisha Williams from Ivy Tech to conduct a Resume Building workshop for Juniors and Seniors from various CTE programs at Walker Career Center. In addition to receiving tips and strategies, students were able to work on their resumes onsite through this 2 hour workshop!
