Hello families,

The next phase of Minnesota weather is among us. Please remind students to bring hats, gloves and coats. As a mom, I know kids start to not want to wear some of these; however, Hilltop kids go outside every day and really need to be bringing them. If you need any assistance with providing these things for your child, please call the Hilltop office.

We have a new measure of security that has been implemented at LSH. From now on, anyone coming into the building during the school day will need to bring their ID. We now have a printer that is able to quickly make a sticker with your name and picture so that staff know you checked into the office. This is an additional security measure that we are taking to ensure student and staff safety.

Just a reminder that there is no supervision outside until 7:40 A.M. each morning. Breakfast also starts at 7:40. Please do not drop off children prior to that.

Do you have new or gently used items that kids might like to"buy" at our school store? Children use their earned "Caught Being Good" tickets as their currency. Please send anything you think that might work for this project to school with your child or drop them off. Thanks in advance!

Hilltop students enjoyed a visit from educator, author, and storyteller Nancy Busse. Nancy shared puppets and folktales from around the world. We loved all the stories, and our favorite is Wombat Stew. Ask your child to retell a folktale for you!

We have one more day of conferences. If you haven't already signed up, please do so or call the office to schedule.

Parent Teacher Conferences Nov. 17, 2022

We finished learning about rocks and minerals this week. Students had to create a model by selecting the best materials for the construction project. Graham crackers acted as granite, powder sugar acted as chalk, pretzel sticks acted as limestone, marshmallows acted as pumice and pringle chips acted as slate. Frosting was used as grout. It was fun to see their engineering minds go to work!

Our Food Drive will begin on November 1st and end on November 17th. Please encourage your child to bring a non-perishable food item(s), and personal care item(s) to school to share with someone less fortunate.
