From the Principal's Desk
Happy Valentine's Day! I am so grateful to work in a school full of love each and every day, but this week we highlighted LOVE as our positivity project character strength of the week. It was wonderful to see the students share heartfelt messages on Wednesday for the holiday, but throughout the week as well.
A few friendly reminders:
-Kindergarten Registration is OPEN If you have a 5 year old starting Kindergarten next year, do not wait, register them today! You can do so online by adding a new student to your skyward account. Please contact the office if you need any assistance!
-Registration for 1st Grade and Pre-School begins March 1st. We have had an increase in interest in our Preschool program this school year, which is amazing! A few details about our program: 5 day- half day program (AM and PM), only $250 a month tuition (reduced fees available for those who qualify), ongoing enrollment (start any time throughout the school year when your student turns 3, as space allows.) I have a feeling we will fill up fast for next year...so please register EARLY so you aren't left without a spot!
-Just a reminder for Valentine's Day coming up, students can bring valentines to exchange with their class but there is NO FTC Sponsored CLASS PARTY and NO FOOD is permitted to be given out.
-And finally, thank you to everyone who has supported our FTC Read-A-Thon that kicked off this Month. More details below!
Have a wonderful weekend,
-Mrs. Scanlan

In support of our Read-A-Thon, we've joined the Cougars Reading Club! A reading incentive program sponsored by the Kane County Cougars baseball team. Your child will have the opportunity to improve his or her reading skills, raise money for SC, and earn a free ticket to a Cougars game.
Student forms were already sent home with students but additional copies are pictured below. Students should read 3 books every two weeks of the program. When they do, write the titles of the books and return that portion of the ticket to Mrs. Ross in our library. Each ticket is a base! The fourth week, students score a "HOME RUN" and earn their free ticket to the game!
K-4th grade students will use their tickets to go to a day game on May 14th during school hours, and preschool students will earn a ticket they can use for a night game on either Friday, May 24th or Saturday, May 26th.

Make sure students dress for the weather!
It is that time of year when temperatures drop, snow falls, or it's warm and sunny! (It is the midwest after all!)
Please remember to dress for the weather as we enter these colder months. For students to play in the snow at school they need: Coat, Hat/hood, gloves, snow pants, and boots. Otherwise they will play on the blacktop for recess.
We go outside as long as we are within the safe zones of the Child Care Weather Watch Chart included below. Please make sure your students have what they need to be comfortable during outdoor recess!
Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.
Labeling Items
Lost and Found
Please be sure to label your student's sweatshirts, coats, hats and gloves with their name. This is the best way to ensure a misplaced item gets back to you. We already have an abundance of items in the lost and found.
Late Arrivals
Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.
Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive to school on time!

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
TECHNOLOGY FEE
You can make payment for your child's school fees through RevTrak by signing on to Skyward. If you do not see a tech fee in RevTrak please contact the school office your child will attend. Please see below for RevTrak payments. You can also come in and make payment by cash or check to any school in our district.
Thank you in advance.
A New Way to Pay Fees in Skyward
NO MORE E-PAY! We have rolled out a new way to pay for lunches, school fees and activity fees for students. You can sign up here https://saltcreek48.revtrak.net/. Or you can go to your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.

Absent Students
Communication For When Your Child Is Absent
Please make sure to notify Angie Holden at Salt Creek Primary if your child will be absent, arriving late, or being dismissed early. It is helpful to contact your child's teacher in these matters as well, but it is very important to contact the office! If you have any doctor's notes, please send those to our health office staff.
