Strategic Planning
The district will be contracting with Dynamix to facilitate and guide the district and community through a strategic planning process. A diverse mix of district personnel and community stakeholders will be included in the process. This team will discuss and develop the district’s mission and vision to guide future action steps for success.
District Report Card Update
Each September, the Ohio Department of Education releases state report cards on all public school districts in Ohio. Due to the ordered school-building closure and testing requirements being waived in the spring of 2020, there is limited data that exists compared with prior years.
The annual state report cards will not have grades for Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, or Improving At-Risk K-3 Readers. This year, instead of a letter grade, the report card shows NR or Not Reported. The Graduation Rate and Prepared For Success data were not impacted by the closure but also will not be assigned grades. In addition, the Third-Grade Reading Guarantee requirements have been waived.

Weekly COVID Reporting
On September 3, the Governor issued a school reporting order for COVID-19 cases. Beginning September 8, parents/guardians should notify schools within 24 hours of a positive test or clinical diagnosis of COVID-19. Within 24 hours of notification, schools should notify parents/guardians about that case in writing, providing appropriate detail without releasing protected information; and must also notify the public health department.
Beginning September 15, health departments will provide newly reported and cumulative cases to ODH. Each Thursday, ODH will publish this data by school or school district, including the breakdown of students and staff. RCCSD will publish this information on the homepage of our website (www.readingschools.org) each Wednesday with the number of confirmed first-hand positive cases of COVID-19 and the number of quarantines for both staff and students in our district. Community Coffees
Mr. Enix shared that the district will be hosting community coffees this fall to engage with the community and discuss issues facing the district, provide information and resources regarding our schools, develop relationships through outreach, and make a commitment to transparent conversations within our community.
The meeting schedule is currently being developed through December at businesses and locations throughout Reading with the district being mindful of COVID-19 restrictions. There will be varied days and times to accommodate schedules. The following dates were shared with the Board with a complete schedule of dates and times to be released the week of September 21.
