Career Info and Opportunities~Methacton Students & Families
February News
You'll notice there a few requests for parent and community volunteers. We are happy to bridge student academic learning with careers in the community. The more our students explore and experience a variety of careers the better prepared they will be for their future. Please consider sharing your career and expertise with our students.
For more information about any of these events, please reach out using the contact information at the bottom of the newsletter.
Attention Parents and Community Members in STEM Careers!
Are you able to assist us in addressing the expected shortage of STEM workers in the United States? The manufacturing sector alone predicts it will need to fill about 3.5 million jobs by 2025; however, up to 2 million of these positions could remain empty due to trouble finding qualified workers.
As we work to enhance the STEM skills of Methacton students, we are seeking parents and community members with experience in STEM careers to:
- speak to students about the influence their math, communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills have had on their STEM positions.
- provide authentic examples of tasks they encountered throughout their career, and eventually challenge our students with these same tasks.
Methacton parents, friends, family, or community members currently or formerly involved in a STEM career, please consider this volunteer opportunity. Your willingness to assist would be appreciated, and could benefit our students for a lifetime.
For more information and to express interest in this opportunity, please email Jason Pfeil, Math Curriculum and Instruction Specialist (grades 5-12), at JPfeil@methacton.org or call at 610-489-5000 ext.15063.
