We Are Called

It has been great having the students in the building.

Drop off Notes: Students in grades K-2 will go directly to their classrooms at 7:35. We are attempting to keep all kids outside from 7:30-7:35. These first days, and most days when the weather is nice, we will gather outside rather than wait in the MPC to go to classrooms at 7:45. Middle school students will walk together to the middle school entrance from the front. All students should come to the front entrance.

I have added the family email addresses to the list that sends this newsletter to your email. Please let me know if you need me to add another address. It is also posted on Facebook and our website.

We Are Called is our theme for the 2021-2022 school year. Throughout the year, we are going to focus on how we are called and what we are called to be as Catholics. We will tie this to virtues that we focus on each month.

We are starting with We Are Called children of God. God has a wonderful plan for each of us in our lives. When we cooperate with Him, our lives will be happier and have greater meaning.

I, like many of you, know that the 2021-22 school year will be a great year to be a Cardinal. We are confident that our staff, students and families will take on any changes/challenges and help us be successful! Last year everyone performed at Rockstar status and it was a great year.

Welcome to a new school year! What a blessing it is to be back at Sacred Heart as the full time counselor! It is a great privilege to get to know your children and support them in their social and emotional needs. I look forward to teaching lessons on character and virtues to grades K-5, as well as Christian Leadership to middle school grades. I also work with students individually and in groups on topics such as coping with anxiety, making and managing friendships, increasing social skills, and more. Please reach out to me if you think your student could benefit from time with the counselor. I look forward to working with you, your children, our outstanding teachers and staff to make this a year healthy and happy.

SHOJ is lucky to have Margaret Plunkett cooking our lunches for this school year. To begin to participate in the federal program, there are a lot of requirements to learn and follow. We appreciate the parent volunteers who help out Mrs. Boone - who is our lunchroom coordinator. All lunches will be ordered each morning when attendance is taken.

Thank you for staying on top of the health/emergency paperwork. I am looking forward to a great year. We will again update you on cases and quarantines in my part of the newsletter. We have not had any cases or quarantines this week. We are continuing our mitigation strategies from last year - deep cleaning, frequent handwashing, distancing and masking. The biggest thing that keeps us all healthy is when you are sick to stay home. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Let's have a healthy year!
