PK-2nd Family Reading Afternoon
When: January 28th 3:00-4:00 Where: Media Center
Join us on January 28th in the Media Center for our second Family Afternoon Reading Session.
Our first reading event was such a success that we are happy to announce we will be having our second afternoon reading session in January. This is a time for you to come and enjoy an hour of reading fun with your child. These events are for parents and students. Students will only be able to participate if they have a parent or guardian with them. During these events we will be doing activities that you can do at home to help your child become a more proficient reader.
This nine weeks the character is Pigeon, from the Mo Willems' books. We will start the afternoon off with a couple of stories and then rotate around the media center for fun reading activities that you and your child can enjoy together. There will be crafts to make, games to play, and activities to do with your child.
Meet Pigeon and explore the books of Mo Willems.
Pigeon is loved by kids of all ages. He is known for always wanting his way and his emotional responses to every situations. These books are wonderful for learning how to read with expression. One of the best things about these books is the simplistic but powerful use of illustrations. Most pages just have Pigeon and/or the item Pigeon is talking about on it. However due to Pigeon's outbursts of emotion about each event that is all that is needed.
Come and explore the world of Mo Willems with your child on January 28th, as we read a couple of his books. We will have four fun stations afterwards for you and your child to enjoy together. At one of the stations you will be making your own puppet theater box to take home.
I am looking forward to sharing the wonders of reading with you and your child on January 28th.
