The Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District takes proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors. The District's comprehensive safety program is designed to provide students, staff, and visitors with facilities that meet or exceed standards in fire safety, air quality, water quality, hazardous materials management, chemical safety, and building safety.

All HF-L schools have safety and security plans in place.

In any emergency, the District would follow direction from public safety officials.

Student safety is the first priority. With the community's outstanding highway and the District's facilities crews, HF-L seldom closes school due to the cold weather or snow. However, during the school year it is a good idea to talk with members of your family about cold weather safety and to make sure you have a cold weather plan, and a plan for any closure for the home.

Please make an emergency plan and teach it to your children, in case you are not home when the bus comes to pick them up in the morning. They need to know where, when and how to get help if they are waiting outside too long, or if they sense danger. Tell your children how long they may wait outside, where to go in the event that the bus is delayed and what the dangers and risks of extreme weather are. NYS requires that schools annually test their ability for emergency evacuation. On Thursday, October 14, 2021, you should have received an "emergency dismissal drill" call from the Superintendent. Do not be alarmed, this is a test of HF-L's systems and a reminder for all of us to have safety plans in place in case of an emergency. A ten-minute early dismissal is planned for students.

Club Paper is designed to keep students engaged in a fun, low-pressure learning environment while giving the flexibility to select individual classes that match students’ interests and fit within their schedules. This virtual program offers daily live and on-demand classes across several categories, including art, movement, math, science, cooking, language, and more. HF-L BIL is a recreational basketball league sponsored by HF-L Community Programs. The focus is on learning the basics while having fun and getting exercise with friends. Leagues are for 3-4 grade boys, 3-4 grade girls, 5-6 co-ed, 5-6 grade girls, 7-8 co-ed, and 9-12 co-ed. There will be one practice OR game per week from January through mid-March. Questions? The Board of Education is seeking committee members to establish an Honorary Naming Committee. This sub-committee will be created and be led by the Board of Education and Policy Committee to be charged with recommending both policy and administration regulation recommendations to the Board of Education for consideration regarding naming district facilities in honor of worthy individuals.

The Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District is happy to announce its partnership with Paper, a digital tutoring service. This service is available to all HF-L students in grades 4-12 and will provide free, unlimited access to virtual tutoring sessions. These sessions are 1:1 and are available 24 hours a day. Students can access this using their ClassLink portal.

Using Paper, students get homework help, writing feedback, and study support on demand. Teachers gain insights into learning gaps. Administrators have visibility into where support is needed.

Mendon Public Library is open M-Th, 9 am - 8 pm. Friday and Saturday, 9 am - 3 pm.

2021 Annual Girl Scout Pumpkin Festival is this Saturday, October 16th at Harry Allen Park from 6 pm to 8 pm. Come play fun, free games and see pumpkins carved by Scouts. Food for purchase provided by the Masons of HF. Donations of Snack foods for Seniors, and Board, Picture or Early Reader books to Reach out and Read are appreciated.

HF-L Youth Lacrosse is offering indoor winter training for ALL interested HF-L students. Training is on Thursday nights, starting November 4th, for boys and girls in grades K-6 from 7 pm-8 pm and grades 7-12 from 8 pm-9 pm at The Athletic Campus on Brighton-Henrietta Town Line Road. Cougar Hoops Registration for the 2021-2022 season is NOW OPEN. We will be registering girls and boys teams at the 3rd-8th grade levels for play in the Monroe and Livingston County travel leagues. Registration will be open until OCTOBER 15th! We need to get an accurate headcount for our teams by that date in order to be able to enter some of these leagues. New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA) is focusing on an initiative to engage children in healthy activities by staging a free day of soccer in the fall.

NYSWYSA will run a free soccer event in Rochester/Webster to introduce the children to soccer in hopes to get them involved in the sport.

The event is completely free, and each participant will receive a gift (small soccer ball, water bottle, drawstring bag).
