Nature Trail Committee Meeting

The BSES Nature Trail Committee will meet on Monday, September 24th at 7:00 PM in the BSES Library. We gladly welcome anyone interested in being a part of the effort to help BSES students, staff, and families learn about nature and the environment.

Grandfriends' Day Visits Scheduled for October!

Our annual tradition of Grandfriends' Days will occur on the following dates:

October 24 Grandriends Day Grade 3 10-11AM; Grade 1 12:15-1:15 PM; Grade 2 1:30-2:30

October 25 Grandfriends Day Grade 4 9:15-10:15; Grade 5 11 AM-12PM

This is an occasion for a special adult in a student's life--grandparent, aunt, uncle, parent, family friend, etc.--to visit and share in a special activity. This is a day that our staff and students look forward to each year!

(Please note that the Grandfriends' Day schedule in the printed calendar distributed by the school district is incorrect. The correct schedule is shown above.)

Drop-off and Pick-up at the Gym

Parents,

In order to maintain the flow of the line at drop-off and pick-up, please do not get out of your vehicle. Please allow your child to exit/enter the car independently. This will make the process more efficient and help everyone with their busy schedules. Thank you for your help!

Parent Education Opportunity: Screenagers

Dear Parents,

Through the generous sponsorship of the Garnet Valley School District Education Foundation, the district in partnership with the GV-CTC is hosting a free screening of the movie SCREENAGERS. The free event will take place on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7PM in the GVMS Auditorium. Although the event is free, please click here to register.. New Attendance App

New Absence Reporting System
Launched at the end of the last school year, the new School Messenger (Safe Arrival) Absence Reporting System makes it easy for parents/guardians to report their child's absence, reduces the time it takes to verify student attendance and will allow our staff to respond to unexplained student absences more efficiently. Important Announcements from the BSES HSA!

Homeroom Parent/Classroom Photographer Volunteers: Thank you to everyone who volunteered to be a HRP/Class Photographer! We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful volunteers here at BSES! Everyone who was chosen for HRP/Class Photographer has been notified via email. We tried to accommodate as many of the volunteers as possible. If you are still interested in helping out at school we have openings on many of our committees throughout the year. Please email bseshsa@gmail.com for more information!

Yankee Candle and Otis Spunkmeyer Fundraiser: Be on the lookout for Yankee Candle and Otis Spunkmeyer fundraising packets that were sent home at the end of last week. In one of our most popular fundraisers, you can help our school while purchasing the candles, cookies, wrapping paper, popcorn, gifts, and more that you would have bought even it was it wasn’t a fundraiser! Use the online options to share the sale with friends and family and to take advantage of direct shipping to your home. For traditional ordering, send the order sheets and payment into school by Tuesday, October 9th and pick up your orders on Wednesday, November 14th. BSES HSA Donation Drive: The Bethel Springs Home & School Association's Donation Drive is now in full swing. Checks written out to BSES HSA can be submitted to school in the envelope sent home with students this week. You can also contribute via MySchoolBucks. Your donations will directly benefit the HSA’s goals for this year including the major library renovation, so please consider contributing.

Box Tops for Education:. It's time to help support BSES by once again cutting Box Tops and sending them into school! Just look for the Box Top labels on your favorite family products, cut out the box top labels, and send them in with your child. Forms will be coming home this week. Forms are due by Friday, October 26th. Our new prize incentive for this collection is a special “Story Snack.” The class who collects the most box tops will win a special treat at snack time with a story from Mr. Piasecki or Mrs. Allen! Discover Greece!

This year our Art and Literature Fling will focus on Greece! Each week in our announcements we will include a fact about this fascinating culture that stretches back thousands of years and has had such incredible influence on the world. PLEASE SHARE THE WEEKLY FACT WITH THE KIDS! In May, around the time of our Art and Literature Fling, there will be an electronic quiz on the weekly facts sent home for families to complete. All families achieving a perfect score will have their names put in a prize basket raffle to be drawn at the conclusion of the Art and Literature Fling on Wednesday, May 28th (you'll have to be present to win)!
