GVMS Viking Family Update
2/12/2024
Green Valley Middle was named a Purple Star School this past Friday. The California Purple Star School Designation Program (Purple Star Program) seeks to reduce the burden on military-connected students and their families by articulating the most critical transition supports for military-connected students and their families by publicly designating schools that meet certain requirements. The program signals which schools are the most committed and best equipped to meet their unique needs. By being named a Purple Star School, GVMS is committing to providing supports to ease the transition obstacles that many military families faces.

Reminders
Schoolwide Expectations
Be safe, be responsible, and be respectful. We will recognize and reward those displaying positive behaviors with pride cards, good news referrals, and with positive praise.
With that in mind, here are a few key reminders for issues that cropped up over the last several years:
1. No personal electronics, including cell phones or earbuds, during the school day. They go off and away from the start of school bell to the end of the school day. If you need to contact a family member, come to the main office or ask a staff member to use the phone. Smart watches are okay.
2. No gum. At all. Ever. Please and thank you.
3. No inappropriate language including curse words, abusive language, and demeaning/derogatory language.
4. Always have a pass when you are out of class.
**Update to Backpack Policy at Indoor Sporting Events**
There will be no bag check available. Thank you for your cooperation and for your help in keeping our gym clean and readily available for events.
