Join us for the FFA Hog Roast before the Blu-Jays stomp the Jayhawks on Friday night!

The meal includes pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, bread, dessert, and a drink.

Class Group Chats - Snapchat

Parents - I need your help!

Over the last week, I have seen a rise in complaints, hurt feelings, and broken friendships over the group chats that take place on Snapchat. These are student-created chats, not school-based chats. Students are participating in these group chats and since they are unmonitored by adults they often become harmful environments.

Please encourage your student to leave a toxic group chat rather than participate. Encourage your student to block people who are rude and unkind. We as adults are the models for students regarding appropriate use of social media, and this is an area where they need our help.

Recently a parent asked me if it is wrong for their child to have Snapchat, or if I would advise against it. According to Snapchat if your child is 13 or older, they are old enough to have an account. The concern is not the app itself, but the interactions that take place within the app. Many students use the app responsibly and with little to no impact on their daily lives. If you notice that your student is using any app for long periods of time, and seems to be unable to stay away from the app - then there is a concern.
