K - 3 Music, Welcome Mrs. DiSchiavi
Starting November 27, students in Kindergarten through third grade across our district will receive 20 minutes of music instruction per week. We are excited about providing all students from Kindergarten to sixth grade with the opportunity to experience music!
Mrs. DiSchiavi (pronounced "di-shaw-vee") is very excited to join the PYLUSD family as your K-3 music teacher! She graduated from Pepperdine University with a BA in Music Education, a single-subject credential, a multiple-subject credential, and an MA in Education. She comes with over 15 years of teaching experience and has taught all levels from preschool to graduate school. Sierra has been the elementary music teacher for Alta Loma School District for the last ten years. She is also currently an adjunct professor for the University of La Verne's teacher education department.
Reflex/Frax Math
Please have your students continue to practice their math facts at home. They can achieve this by utilizing Reflex Math (for grades 1-6) and Frax (for grades 3 and above). It is advisable for students to engage in Reflex Math/Frax practice three times a week, dedicating approximately 15-20 minutes to each session. Access to Reflex Math and Frax is available through Clever.
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
- Students should arrive at school between 7:20 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. There is no supervision of students prior to 7:20 a.m.
- Please remember to use crosswalks in the parking lot areas during morning drop off and afternoon pick up times.
- Students should be seated in class by 7:50 a.m. when the tardy bell rings. The gates to the campus will be closed at 7:50 a.m. and all late students will need to proceed through the office and receive a tardy slip.
- All students are expected to go directly home after school unless otherwise directed by their parents.
- Children may not leave the school grounds once they arrive and during the school day without an authorized adult (parent/guardian) present.
- Parents are discouraged from removing their children from school before dismissal time unless it is an emergency or for medical appointments. Parents must provide photo identification when signing a student out in the office.
- Students must be picked up within 15 minutes of the dismissal times (no later than 2:30 PM)
