Principal Principles
Parent Conference Day-Oct. 19th
On Thursday, Oct. 19th, Demopolis City Schools will release at 11:30 a.m. The afternoon (12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.) is reserved for parent conferences. These conferences are an excellent opportunity to discuss your child's academic progress and experiences at school. These meetings can help you understand what your student is learning at school, areas where your student can grow academically, and ways to support your student. Parents are encouraged to email teachers to set up conferences.
Free College Application Week Oct. 16-20
The More You Know
Pre-ACT-Oct. 18
All Sophomores will take the Pre-ACT on Wednesday, Oct. 18th. Students should be on campus by 7:45 am. Please remember that digital devices (cell phones, smart watches, etc.) are prohibited during the test.
ACT WorkKeys for Seniors-Oct. 25
The ACT WorkKeys is a standardized test for all Seniors. The exam will be given on Oct. 25th to all Seniors. The ACT Workkeys measures Graphic Literacy, Work Place Documents, and Applied Mathematics. Students are striving for a score of 4 in all three areas.
Oct. 20th-DHS vs. Holtville-Let's Glow Crazy
This is a BIG week for DHS football. Let's Glow Crazy, Demopolis! Come out and support our team as they vie for a regional championship vs. Holtville.
Volleyball this week
Volleyball will compete in the Area Tournament this week at Montgomery Academy. DHS will play Selma at 2:00 pm. The winner of that match will face MA for the area championship. The top two teams will advance to the Super Regional tournament in Montgomery on Wednesday, Oct. 25th.
DCSF Trivia Night hosted by Batter Up-Oct. 18th
Mark your calendars for Oct. 18th. Batter Up will host DHS trivia night. Please join us for trivia and wings at everyone's favorite trivia spot. Batter Up will donate a portion of all dine-in and take-out orders to the Demopolis City Schools Foundation.
Scholars Bowl Interest Meeting-Oct. 19th
Are you good at trivia? This club is for you! Please stop by Mrs. Boutwell's room on Oct. 19th to learn all about Scholars Bowl.
Softball Golf Tournament Fundraiser

Tiger Arts Guild meeting and Cinderella audition information
There will be a TAG meeting on Oct. 18th to discuss auditions for the spring play, Cinderella. A masterclass and Cinderella audition workshop will be hosted by UWA choir director Dr. Christopher Shelt. Anyone interested in TAG or being a part of the Cinderella cast/crew, should attend the meeting.
Wallace-Selma Dual Enrollment Course for the Spring of 2024

DCSF Cornhole Tournament-Nov. 2nd

Dress Code
The assistant principals have met with all students to discuss the dress code. Students and parents should be familiar with the dress code, which is contained in the DCS code of conduct. Of particular note: students should not wear athletic attire (sweatpants, wind suits, etc., with the exception of game days), crop tops, house shoes, or slides. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Senior Updates on Remind
Class of 2024 students and parents can join a Remind group to keep up to date with scholarships, deadlines, senior information, and graduation requirements with this app from Mrs. Miller. Follow the instructions in the graphic to join.

Attendance Matters
Did you Know?
September is Attendance Awareness Month, designated by the Attendance Awareness Campaign. Know the difference in truancy and chronic absenteeism. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing two or more days per month or more than 18 days in an academic year. Students who are chronically absent are more likely to drop out. Every day, Every class period matters.

Pick up and Drop Off Routes
DHS pick-up and drop-off routes have changed due to the construction on the front entrance. Please note that ALL students will be dropped off and picked up at the back of the school. If you drop a student off, please remain in the LEFT lane. Car drivers and faculty/staff will use the right lane.
