Together, We Can!
From the Desk of Dr. Barber
Spring brings a renewed sense of possibility and provides us with an opportunity to think about what we’re doing well and where we can improve. This week has been such a positive, engaging week at our school. We enjoyed Pancakes with the Principal and recognized students that have demonstrated the habits. Students and teachers synergized and collected over 2,000 BOX TOPS for our school! We also celebrated Black History Month and watched students perform in front of large audiences of parents! The school store is operated and managed two days a week by student leaders! Our Student Council is planning a walk to celebrate one of our very own students! Students around the building are eager for the Book Fair’s Grand Opening this week because they love to read the pages in a book!
Forgive me but I can’t help but get excited! There are so many remarkable things happening at Pontiac. Our school is integrating student leadership in ways that inspire our students. This, after all, is the purpose of The Leader in Me: to produce students who are equipped with the leadership and life skills they need to succeed in school, college, and life. We, at Pontiac, are working hard to communicate to students their individual worth and potential; to provide a place where student, staff, family, and community voices are valued; and build a sense of belonging for all stakeholders. It is our hope that this inspiration will help all students strive to do their personal best each day.
Parents, look for ways to encourage leadership in your students. What are your child’s gifts and talents? Let’s help them explore these strengths and ignite a spark! Together, we can!
