Message from Mr. Imbusch
Dear students and parents/guardians:
This week, we had our first ‘Wednesday schedule’. For those parents/guardians new to the high school, on Wednesdays we shorten each class by a few minutes, and this allows our formal classes to end at 1:03pm. Buses pick up at the same time as other days (2:05pm). Students can utilize the next hour in many ways. They can…
Work with teachers to get extra help understanding difficult concepts
Make up missed assignments, tests, or quizzes from days they may have been absent.
Work with their peers for academic support, or group projects.
Get a head start on their homework, either in study hall or at home, before attending games, practices, clubs/activities, or jobs.
Visit college reps who are scheduled to visit the high school throughout the Fall.
Sometimes, we schedule students for certain training, surveys, or other programs on a Wednesday afternoon. This coming Wednesday, September 13th, is Summer Reading Day. All students are expected to read one book from the Summer Reading List. They will meet at 1:08pm in book groups to discuss their summer reading book. Students should use this form to enter their selected book. Please know that students will earn 0.5 credits upon passing Summer Reading. Students who do not pass Summer Reading are ineligible for first term Honor Roll.
The following Wednesday, September 20th, the freshmen will meet at 1:05pm in the Auditorium for our Critical Incident Response training, commonly referred to as A.L.I.C.E. (Alert-Lockdown-Inform-Counter-Evacuate). More information to come next week.
Finally, on September 14th, we will start up our ‘Interventions’ throughout the school day. This is where teachers are available in the Media Center to offer extra help to students during their study hall. Once Interventions begin, students can sign up on the homepage of their chromebooks. With these supports in place, all students have every opportunity to find success in all their classes throughout the year.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Principal
