10.1 USD116 Budget Discussion
The Chief Financial Officer reviewed the 2023-24 budget. Some highlights are below, the complete presentation can be found here: FY24 Board Budget Presentation
2023-24 BUDGET REVIEW OF FY23 EDUCATION FUND
- FY23 actual revenues fell short of budgeted expectations by $2,200,000, due to delays in receiving June property taxes.
- FY23 Expenditures underspent budgeted expectations by $3,900,000. This was due in large part to unfilled vacancies.
- We budgeted a surplus of $203,786, but actually had a surplus of $1.9 million. This helped improve Ed Fund fund balance.

10.6 District Initiatives and Timelines
Dr. Ivory-Tatum gave an overview of historical, current and upcoming district initiatives with the Board of Education and their timing relative to the Board calendar and future requested Board action.
The Administration's recommendation is to hire a consultant to conduct an Elementary Redistricting Study, with the goal of having a recommendation no later than April 2024.
Board President Paul Poulosky and Superintendent, Dr. Ivory-Tatum, will work together to add redistricting to an upcoming agenda.

Action Items
11.4 Administrative Personnel Items: The Board APPROVED Peter Foertsch as the Director of Human Resources.
Mr. Foertsch is currently the Director of School Improvement in the Unit 4 School District. He's previous roles include Director of Magnet Schools, Principal, Assistant Principal and 5th grade teacher.

At the September 19 meeting, a Spanish interpreter was available for Member Stanton. Going forward, there will be someone available to translate questions or comments in Spanish, both for for her and members of the public who may need it.
