Veterans' Day

Friday, November 10 we will be recognizing the parents of our students who are veterans or who are currently serving in the military during our morning assembly at 7:45. If you are a veteran and would like to participate in our Veterans’ Day assembly, please contact the office so we can get your information.

Watch D.O.G.S.

We have started our Watch D.O.G.S. program again this year. Watch D.O.G.S. stands for Dads of Great Students and is an opportunity for dads or other father figures to be involved on campus by volunteering to help out during a school day or during school events. If you are interested in volunteering for this opportunity, please contact Mrs. Jewell at apriljewell@lorenaisd.net.
Event Information

Family STEM and Makerspace Night

This school year, our Kindergarten, First, and Second grade students have visited our new STEM Lab and Makerspace and it has been a hit! STEM is an initiative that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math where students explore and problem solve in these areas. Makerspace is a place where students have the opportunity to create, collaborate, and explore their curiosity. We will have a Family STEM and Makerspace night on Tuesday, November 14 from 6:00-7:00 in the cafeteria and the gym. We will have hands on activities, prizes, and an opportunity for parents to see what all the Makerspace and STEM buzz is all about!

Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving Break will be from November 20-November 24. We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Please note that Friday, November 17 is NOT an early release day. We will have normal school hours on this day.

From the Counselor

Each month, Mrs. Forrest has a guidance lesson that she shares with our students. This year, she is focusing on lessons from Seven Habits of Happy Kids.


This month we are learning about Habit #2: Begin with the end in mind. This teaches students to not only set goals in life, but have a plan to reach those goals.


Below you will see a checklist of characteristics of someone who begins with the end in mind. Students will learn about these at school but it would be a great thing to practice at home as well.


  • Plan ahead
  • Set goals
  • Don't give up
  • Try your best
  • Be a good citizen

If you have some pictures from things like field trips or school events that you would like featured in the yearbook, please e-mail them to Mrs. Attebery at julieattebery@lorenaisd.net so she can submit them to the PTO yearbook committee.
