Hello Kindergarten Families!

Welcome to Eagle Crest Elementary School. My name is Amanda Holden and I am the very proud principal here at ECES. Eagle Crest is a warm, inviting, community school with a leadership focus and a commitment to supporting students to be the best that they can be. Entering kindergarten is a huge milestone in a child’s life and we are thrilled to celebrate (and support you through) this big event!

It is such a joy to welcome new learners to our school and to be a part of your family’s K-12 journey. The best way that you can prepare your child for success in Kindergarten (and beyond!) is to give them opportunities to practice being independent- opening snacks, unpacking a lunch, zipping backpacks and to encourage curiosity. Please don’t worry too much about letters and numbers- that’s our job. Encouraging a love of learning and connecting school as a positive experience and an opportunity to grow is a great way to get started!

Below are a couple of important events and dates to be aware of as we inch closer to the beginning of the school year. We have made some adjustments to the beginning of the year schedule, so please read through carefully to see what to expect this year.

August 18, 2023 - First Day of Kindergarten & School Spirit Celebration

Please join us for a meet and greet on the small playground, on the west side of the building, on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 9:00am - 9:30am for children and families. This will be an opportunity to meet the kindergarten teachers as well as administration and school staff who will be supporting your children. You will also have the opportunity to meet other parents and children who will be starting kindergarten here at Eagle Crest. In addition, the PTO will be available to answer any questions or give you information if you would like to be involved.

At this event, students in grades 1-5 will be able to drop off supplies and meet their new teacher. Kindergarten families are welcome to come to check in with the school nurse if necessary, learn more about iPad insurance and our Community Schools programming, and connect with our wonderful PTO group.

Please use the form linked below to sign up for a 45 minute appointment slot. During this appointment your child will meet with one of our teachers for some basic school readiness assessments, visit our kindergarten classrooms, and check out a bit of our school. These are not assessments to prepare your child for, rather we are just getting a feel for who your kiddo is and what skills they may have to start the year.

When you arrive for your scheduled appointment, please meet us on the small playground. At this time, we are unable to have parents inside the building, so plan to relax on the playground or go run a local errand. We have some time built into the appointment time for play and getting to know the teachers and staff. At the end of the appointment we will meet you back at the playground.

On August 17th, we will be creating class lists based on assessment data and sharing assigned teachers. You can expect an email and a phone call during the early part of the day with your child’s classroom assignment. That afternoon, the teachers will have an optional, low-key 'Meet the Teacher' event where you can pop into the classroom and meet the teacher.

We will be welcoming Kindergarten students for their first day of school on Friday, August 18th (grades 1-5 start on 8/16). Arrival is at 8:20am-8:35am with students lining up at their classroom doors. The morning bell rings at 8:35am. Right after dismissal on the 18th, our PTO is hosting a popcorn school spirit social in the bus loop. Please plan to join us at 3:10pm for this fun event!
