UIL District Meeting Information for December 9, 2023
Our District UIL Competition will be held Saturday, December 9th at Somerset Elementary (7850 East 6th Street). Please drop off your child in the 2nd grade circle by the cafeteria at 6:15am to load the buses for Somerset.
Please make sure to send a lunch, snacks, and/or money for the concession stand with your child. We will send home a concession stand price list as soon as we receive one from Somerset. He/she is welcome to bring games and electronics to help pass the time, but please understand it will be your child’s responsibility to keep up with these items.
Your child may wear the UIL t-shirt to the meet or a Devine spirit shirt, with the exception of students who are in the speaking events. We encourage our contestants who are in storytelling or oral reading to look their very best. Dress clothes that you may wear to church or to a nice restaurant will be appropriate.
Parents, you can come to the UIL Meet in Somerset, but you must check in to their office and remain in the cafeteria while on campus. Your child can be picked up after they compete or they can stay and ride the bus home. You must sign your child out with their coach or a school employee before taking your child from the meet. If they ride the bus home, their coach will contact you about when to pick up your child. Pickup will be at the bus circle (same as dropoff). We will send one bus home early with students who compete before lunch, so if your child competes in the morning, they will most likely be back in Devine around lunch time. If they compete after lunch, they will probably be back by 3:00.
