Laura Bush Middle School Robotics attended a trial run meet on Saturday, February 18th at Lubbock High School. This event was hosted by Texas Tech's Whitacre College of Engineering STEM Outreach program and TTU GEAR Robotics. Students ran their trial runs with Lubbock area schools and will see them again in March for Game Day competition. Students will continue preparing for the competition over the next few weeks where they will have an opportunity to advance.

Laura Bush Middle School Theatre Productions class participated in the Lubbock-Cooper Middle School One-Act Play Competition on Friday, February 18 competing against 7 schools from Lubbock-Cooper, Frenship, Plainview, and Big Spring. They performed "Shakespeare Unbound" by Claudia Haas and placed 3rd out of the 7 schools. Awards were also given to the following cast and crew:

High School Cheerleading Tryouts are here! If you are interested in trying out for the 2023-2024 cheer squad at the Lubbock-Cooper High school or Liberty High School, please scan the appropriate QR code on the flyers in the hallway, by the office, or by (cheer coaches) classroom. We have several signs throughout the building that say "Best is the STANDARD." As discussed on the second day of school, this slogan is applicable to every aspect of life. Whether it's studying, competing, helping others, cleaning, behaving positively, or anything else, we want students to do their absolute BEST. If their mindset is "Best is the STANDARD," great things are going to happen!!

If you are using the skyward feature to submit an absence, please go ahead and select the whole day and our attendance clerk will make corrections where needed. This is a slight change from the beginning of the year.

Some of the businesses directly east of LBMS have asked for help with a few things:

1. Please don't use their lots as a place for student pick-up or drop-off.

2. If your student isn't going to be a paying customer, they do not need to be there for the sake of hanging out or waiting for a ride.

Let's do our part as a Pirate community to help these businesses out.

Parents/Guardians may bring a lunch for their students. Lunches can be dropped off in the front office and students will be allowed to pick-up their food when they are dismissed for lunch.

**Due to security concerns, no outside entity (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Favor, Pizza delivery, Chick-Fil-A, etc.) will be allowed to drop off lunches for students.
