Wellness Day
On April 27th, Shawnee High School held their first ever Wellness Day! The goal was to promote personal wellness by our staff leading wellness activities and show the students different ways to decompress from a stressful day. Activities included sand volleyball, knitting, nature walk, petting cats, microscoping, board games, sidewalk chalk, yoga, and many more! Click here to check out some pictures.
Connections with Elmwood
Connections with Elmwood focused on our elementary students building a connection with positive role models at the high school, learn the importance of community and wellness, and promote inclusiveness and positivity within our Shawnee family. Together, over 1,000 students and 60 staff members walk/ran the Daily Mile together, which was a predetermined route around the Shawnee School grounds that included the youth soccer fields, baseball and softball fields, then back to the finish line on the track. From there, high school students directed their Elmwood classes to an assigned location throughout the grounds where they led an activity that they had planned for the group. Some students brought in bubbles, kickballs, wiffle balls and water balloons. It was a blast!
