Principal's Peek at the Week
Saints Joseph and John School - November 9, 2023
Dear Saints Joseph and John School Families,
“Hold fast to the hope that lies before us.” – Hebrews 6:18
Tomorrow we welcome our veterans to SJJ for our school Mass and a reception to honor them. We are grateful for the men and women who have served our country!
Tomorrow, students and staff may wear red/white and/or blue shirts or SJJ spirit shirts or spirit wear sweatshirts (no hoodies) and school uniform bottoms with school uniform shoes. Students are always welcome to wear their complete school uniform instead of participating in any form of dress down days.
Looking ahead, our fall open house for rising Preschool, Prekindergarten and Kindergarten students is from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on November 16 at the school. Attendees to the open house will have the opportunity for preferred enrollment for Preschool or Prekindergarten at the event. Please be sure to watch the video explaining our new Prekindergarten program below!
Speaking of enrollment, plans for K-8 enrollment for 2024-2025 school year are also underway. We will be transitioning to a new online platform, Digital Academy, for student enrollment and registration for next school year. More information to come soon.

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students of SJJ:
I hope this note finds you all well…
Just this Monday evening, I finished going through all the wonderful cards and notes that you gave me at my Farewell Mass on October 27th . I wanted to take the time to read them all. I was amazed at the memories, stories, and things that you shared with me. Not to mention the pictures that were drawn to represent me…
Whether a rock, a “donut”, letter, card, a painting, or the blue and gold stole, each one of these items means a great deal to me, especially knowing that you took the time to create them. Your Good Shepherd statue is already standing alongside the St. Joseph statue that St. Joseph Parish gave me. You can be assured of my fond remembrances of you!
Please know of my continued prayers for you. May I ask that you continue to pray for me? And while some students wanted me to write and say that you were my favorite class – you all were in some way – keep on praying, keep learning, and know that God is always with you to accomplish your goals in life!
Go Vikings! May God bless and keep you all…

Let's Cheer on the Cleveland Browns with a Watch Party!
This Sunday, November 12 our Cleveland Browns face the Baltimore Ravens, a divisional rivalry! SJJ is hosting a family watch party for our SJJ families from 12:45 PM until the game ends, approximately at 4:00 PM.
We will be streaming the game in McGraw Hall and having pizza for all who register to come. Extra pizza will also be available for purchase.
Please feel free to bring non-alcoholic drinks (water, pop, juice boxes, etc) to share; we ask that they are in aluminum cans or bottles and not glass.
Finally, bring blankets and any extra snacks that you may want, wear your favorite Browns gear, and come ready to root on our Brownies! We aspire to make this a great event for our families to connect as a community and to kickback and watch the hometown team!

Vaping and Addiction Presentation
The Strongsville Women's League is inviting the SJJ community to attend a presentation entitled, Protect Our Children: Vaping and Addiction.
Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Strongsville Rec Center
This will be a panel discussion on vaping and the many risks vaping presents. The League will have speakers from the education community, the police, the judiciary, the medical community and the recovery community. This event will primarily take a question-and-answer format.
The Strongsville Women's League is a group of women dedicated to promoting volunteer service, leadership, fundraising and friendship. Their mission is to undertake projects and provide funding and services that enrich our community and enhance the quality of life for the residents of Strongsville. This particular presentation will be the first of three planned sessions to address issues concerning the safety of our children.
If your family has overpaid tuition to SJJ and is due a refund as a result of receiving the EdChoice Scholarship, the question was asked if all or part of that refund could be donated to the playground campaign. The answer is yes!
If you would like to donate a part of your tuition refund to our new playground or upcoming We Give Catholic campaign, we would be happy to help you with that. Please call Patty Briggs in the Business Office at 440-238-4877 ext. 103 and she will let you know how to make that donation.
We will be updating families on the total donations received for the playground next week as funds are coming in today and we anticipate more over the weekend!!
