Exciting News from Girl Scouts Kendall and Maci!
Hey everyone! We hope you're having an amazing summer so far. Guess what? Kendall and Maci from our local Girl Scouts troop are gearing up for an awesome new Girl Scout year and heading back to school!
On Tuesday, August 29th, these bright and enthusiastic young ladies paid a special visit to the Friendsville Town Hall, and guess what they brought along? COOKIES! 🍪🍪🍪
It was such a delightful surprise to see their smiling faces and receive these delicious treats. Not only are they spreading joy and sweetness, but they're also learning important life skills and building their confidence through their Girl Scouts journey.
Let's all give a big shoutout to Kendall and Maci for their dedication and hard work. We're so proud of you both and can't wait to see all the incredible things you'll achieve in the upcoming year.
So, here's to a fantastic Girl Scout year, successful school days, and of course, enjoying those scrumptious cookies!

Scrap Tire Drop-Off Day Event ~ September 16, 2023
Garrett County residents get rid of your old scrap tires now. Free of Charge. Up to 10 tires per residence. Carpooling is encouraged!. Be prepared with valid ID or proof of residence. Passenger and light truck tires will only be accepted. Will accept tires until receptacles are full. The event starts at 7:00 a.m. at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. Enter from Mosser Road, Gate #1. Truck or Treat ~ October 6, 2023
Trunk or Treat will be hosted by the Friendsville PTO on October 6, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Friendsville Community Park. Children's activities, raffles, and food will be available.

Hearts & Flowers
The Friendsville Library Quilters latest quilt, “Hearts and Flowers” is currently on display at the Friendsville Library. Raffle tickets are available to purchase for $1 each or six for $5. Tickets can be purchased at the Friendsville & Oakland Branches of the Ruth Enlow Library, Friendsville Pharmacy, Friendsville Branch of First United Bank & Trust, Little Sandy's on Rt. 219, or Four Seasons Stitchery in Grantsville. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023.
GC Department of Social Services Assistance Program ~ September 13, 2023
Occurring on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Friendsville branch, representatives from the Garrett County Department of Social Services will be in the library to serve the community through their assistance outreach program.
Please note: If Garrett County schools are canceled due to inclement weather, this outreach event will not be conducted.
LEGO Club ~ September 26, 2023
Calling all LEGO lovers! Join the LEGO Club at the Friendsville Library. We will meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join us for some free-building fun based on an awesome new theme each month! Your creative build will even be displayed in the library for others to enjoy! Lego and Duplo blocks will be provided. LEGO Club is designed for children ages 4 and up.
One Maryland One Book ~ September 28, 2023
Please join us as we discuss the One Maryland One Book, "There There" by Tommy Orange. "There There" weaves together a cast of twelve interconnected characters from across Native communities, as they converge toward the Big Oakland Powwow. Some contend with sobriety and mental health, while others desire to preserve cultural dance and history. A few, meanwhile, plan to rob the powwow's contest cash prize. Through these multiple facets, filled with pain, humor, sorrow, and ambition, Tommy Orange gives readers a riveting, modern portrait of the urban Indian experience.
Children's Starry Night Story Time ~ October 2, 2023
Wear your pajamas, bring your favorite stuffie or blanket, and join us for a special evening children's story time! Enjoy stories, songs, movement, and rhymes during this fun-filled evening. This program is geared towards ages 2-5, but younger and older children are welcome!
Culinary Connections Cookbook Club ~ October 4, 2023
f you enjoy cooking, trying new recipes, and eating with friends...then this is the bookclub for you! It's Friendsville Library's new Culinary Connections Cookbook Club! Join us on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6pm. Each participant will choose a recipe from a selection of cookbooks to prepare at home and bring to share at the next meeting. We'll have fun trying new foods, discussing our culinary successes (or disasters), and sharing cooking techniques and tips. We'll have a different theme each month and a prize will be awarded at each meeting for the tastiest dish! The kickoff meeting is Wednesday, October 4th. Please bring your favorite dish and a copy of the recipe to share with the group! Happy cooking!

STEAM KIDS ~ October 10, 2023
STEAM Kids programs are happening here at the Friendsville Library! Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 4:00-5:00 p.m., as we engage in exciting hands-on activities based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! This program is designed for ages 5 and up.
Friendsville is Garrett County’s oldest settlement established in 1763. It is a hub for Adventure, Nature and History. Friendsville is enjoying new energy with a vibrant outdoor lifestyle centered around its riverside location with a restaurant/pub, pharmacy, liquor store, healing oil boutique and more. Come for a day of water sports or a gentle walk along the river followed by a stroll through town or a family picnic in the park. You’ll want to stay for a lifetime.
