November 17th, 2023 - Pinewood Elementary School

Hello Falcons!

I want to start by thanking all of our families for attending our conferences this week. This is a great way to engage with your child's education. We really appreciate the support. Report cards should have been given to you during this conference. If you have not received your child's 1st trimester report card, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Now that this week has drawn to a close, I want to remind you all that we do not have school next week. I hope you all have a great week filled with memory making moments with friends and family. Enjoy the week, and we will see you all back at school on Monday morning!

Toys for Tots - Toys for Tots has dropped off their donation box in our office. If you would like to participate, please drop off a new, unwrapped children's gift in our office. Donations are due on or before December 7th. Pick-Up day is the 8th.

November 28th -- PTC Meeting in Room 2
November 28th/29th -- Dental Van Here
December 22nd -- First Day of Winter Break

Gratitude

Gratitude is when you feel thankful for the good things in your life. This could be stuff people often take for granted, like having a place to live, food, clean water, friends, and family. Gratitude is taking a moment to reflect on how lucky you are when something good happens, whether it's small or big. Here are some ways to practice gratitude: Say Thank You Often, Start a Positive Journal, Make a Gratitude Jar or Write a Letter of Gratitude. Practicing Gratitude is easier than you think. Start now. Think about what’s good about this moment.

Parent Teacher Club

PTC will be meeting Tuesday, November 28th @ 2:45pm in room #2. We are a group of families and staff members who would love your help in planning family-friendly events, awesome assemblies for our kids and finding ways to support and enhance the school community!

Power's Out? School's In!

As the weather begins to change, we typically see an increase in the number of power outages in the area. Keep in mind that we recently installed generators that can operate our entire campus. Even if the power is out in the area, school will likely be in session. If we do cancel school due to a power outage, or for any other reason, we will notify you through all of our schoolwide communication systems.

Yearbook

Hello Pinewood families and staff!

We invite you to help our yearbook team collect photos of all the fun moments and activities this school year. To help enhance the Pinewood yearbook and ensure it is full of meaningful memories for our students, we ask that you please consider sharing photos you take of school related activities/events (while on campus, field trips, sports and other school events). You may email photos to pwyearbook@ppesd.org now and throughout the year. Keep in mind that the yearbook team will be working hard in the spring to complete and finalize our yearbook. The earlier you send them, the better.

Note: While we want everyone to send photos, due to size and layout limitations, we may not be able to include them all. If there is a photo you want to ensure is in your personal yearbook, remember to take advantage of the 2 free custom pages that TreeRing offers when you purchase a yearbook for your family, and include your special photo(s) there.

IMPORTANT: This email is monitored by a parent volunteer, NOT school staff. Do not send questions or content regarding topics other than the yearbook to this email. Please utilize your normal routes of communication with your student's teacher or the office for all other inquiries.
