State Assessment Update
Congratulations to our fourth and fifth graders on completing their RICAS ELA Testing. They did an amazing job and gave their best effort throughout the test! Parents or grades 3-5, it is most advantageous for students to complete assessments with their classmates. To that end, please make every effort to ensure your child’s punctual attendance on their scheduled testing days. Also, provide your child with the best mental attitude about testing by ensuring a good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and plenty of encouragement.

Attendance Update
As of today Dutemple is number 2 in the district in daily and chronic attendance!
Overall in the state we are 37th out of 293 schools!!!
This has been a huge two year initiative and I'm thrilled with how far we have come. A huge thank you to our Dean of Attendance, Vin Turchetta and also to Mr. Pena who runs our attendance team here at the school. Also, a huge shout out to all of the families that have made this a major priority as well!
Message from the PTO
A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for Trivia for a Cause this past Tuesday. It was an incredibly successful event, surpassing how much we raised for the library last year - our final count is a whopping $924 raised for Ms. Hughes and the library! She’ll be using those funds as well as money from the book fair to update the inventory in the library for all our students
Upcoming PTO Events:
Annual Dutemple Family Dance: this year our family dance is a Hawaiian Glow Luau - so grab your best tropical outfits and join us at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on Thursday, April 24th! Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for kids (2 and under are free), and include a full dinner and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages. Flyers should be going home this weekend - please RSVP by April 12th so we can communicate with the venue.
Martial Arts After-School Program: in partnership with Mastery Martial Arts, the PTO will be hosting an after school program every Wednesday in May. Flyers should be going home soon to sign up - bring your best “Yes I can!” attitude and come have some fun with us!
Our snack bar also continues this week - so don’t forget to come grab some snacks and support the PTO every Wednesday after school. We’ve got a rotating set of snacks and drinks coming soon too! We accept cash or Venmo.
Message from Nurse Deb
Dear Families:
We are in full swing of doing the RICAS testing at school, and students are doing fantastic! I am not seeing as many students with headache and stomach ache complaints from test stress as I have expected. (so far, at least)
If your child is worried about the testing, talk to them about it. Watch this parent video:

Have your child watch and practice the breathing in this video:

Good for anyone feeling stress...all of us at some time!
