The Upcoming of my art
Imani Horne's Senior Art
Objective.........
Project 1 Color Wheel
I have created this piece of artwork because I love colors and I felt like if they all came together as a closing light it would look nice. I also created this because I never really paint and I never do creative things so I thought that If I did this it would change my experience in making an art piece. My overall vision of my work is simple and beauty. I know that there are other paintings out there that are better than mines but coming from me, a person who doesn’t really like to do stuff like this it is nice. I am very proud that I was able to create something that pops out at you.
To do this project it drew lines such as in the picture and I used a ruler to try to make sure the lines were equal and that they were straight. I then had do look at the colors and know which ones to out in. We had to use primary, secondary and tertiary colors. This project was fairly easy once I knew what I wanted to do.
This year I have really grown as an artist. I have learned to be patient to accept what the outcome is. I have accepted the fact that your idea will not always come out as you want it. Art has made me a more patient and calm person. Because art takes time.
As I stated above that art has made me more patient I also learned different techniques and different terms for colors and much more. I never heard of a tertiary color and me never really took the time out to know more about secondary primary or tertiary colors.
Coming into the project a weakness I had was to want everything to be exactly perfect. So I had to work on my attitude towards art.
Project 2 Ice Cream Sculpture
This project taught me to be patience and that your first time doing something isn’t always going to be perfect. Sculpting takes time, lots of time which are why you need the patience to see your best work. On the art side, it taught me how to sculpt which I did not know how to do before this project. Doing this project I was hoping to achieve a nice piece of work. Overall it looks okay but not exactly how I wanted it to. Whoever looks at my art will see it and think of food, desserts. The whole meaning of me sculpting this was to be about some type of food and I chose Ice Cream. Ice Cream. In this project, I achieved a lot of things. I felt like as long as the base of my project held up then everything else would be fine. This project also helped me achieve a little patience because when your working and pieces start to fall off you get mad but then you realize that you just have to remain calm and try to make it work and whatever it comes out as it will still look nice and hopefully people will get the picture. My other project (the color wheel relates to this because before I did the circle color wheel my original drawing was a cup with a drink and as it goes down the color would get darker but that didn’t work out. So what I am trying to say is that if it would have worked out most of my work would have been in the food industry. My work fits with someone named Sharon Core. Shannon core did a picture of multiple hot dogs. I'm not sure what he did it but I'm sure she did it for the same reason I did. She either loves food or because she never really sees the art of food. I never really see works of art that are about food.A strength I had with this project was taking time and just knowing what I wanted to do, also not getting mad at the outcome. A weakness I had was being able to decide with colors and why. But it all worked out because I had to paint it all brown anyway.
This project has helped me grow in so many ways. The same ways that are listed in the color wheel project.
Project 3 What do you think
With making this art I learned that if you have a positive attitude you will have a good outcome. I also learned that you have to be happy with what you get and be accepting. With all of the projects I did I feel like this is the project that I didn't really have a weakness with. Everything on the board was a strength in my eyes. Everything was perfect. I am most proud of this project because it brought out a more artistic side out of me and it makes me proud to say that this is my art.
My Growth as an Artist
This year I have grown a lot from the first project and the last project. I have grown in personal ways and ways in learning about art. With making art I learned how to sculpt, I learned how to put meaning into my art and I also learned that art is not always meant to be perfect. Some good artist have made art and threw it away because they felt like it was not good enough and people wound up buying it from them or giving them motivational speeches because their art was good. I feel like that is what happend to me. I have started over on my work lots of times unitl i finally realzdd that, it may not look the best but it is okay. Thatis how I grew and learned about making art along with learning about myself through the proects that I have created.
Which was my favorite.....
I am most proud of project number 3. I am most proud because to me this is my best work. I believe that the other two projects have helped me grow into getting such a nice picture. It has made me happy and proud of how far I have come. From the basic color wheel piece to the ice cream. I believe that this project incorporates all of the strengths I had in making art this year. I believe that this art piece was the best I have ever done and it makes me proud that all of the weaknesses I have had such as making my mind up and doing colors. Those were challenging for me but with this project, I kind of just went with the flow and let my mind take over. I did not really think I just did it. My biggest weakness was making up my mind which I kind of got over and it is not really a weakness anymore.
Future Art....!?
Some art that reminds me I can do anything is located below. I say this because when kids paint or color they do not care how it looks they just do it and they feel that it is beautiful and they do more. As they do more they get better and learn more and new things about coloring. Kids are not perfect and neither am I. So, if I have a reminder to tell me I can do it and I can do better. I will grow into a better person.
