K-6 BCSVA Weekly

As we return from spring break, I am hopeful that you found this time with your kiddos to be fun, (projects around the house, travel, or just straight-up resting!) to re-energize for the final push to the end of the school year!

It’s also a great time to celebrate our accomplishments as a school family. Our students and staff are working harder than ever, and we are grateful for our parents’ and guardians’ support at home. Our strong home-to-school connections will help our students thrive, and your involvement in your child’s educational journey is truly valued.

• It was so wonderful to see our 3rd graders the week before spring break!
• They came in to work with Ms. Ransom and Ms. Harmon (our BCS AIG teacher) on their CogAT assessment for placement in the BCS AIG program!
• Thank you to our parents who were patient with devices and apps to start that assessment, much appreciated!

CogAT measures learned reasoning and problem-solving skills in three different areas:

• verbal
• quantitative
• nonverbal

Reasoning skills develop gradually throughout a person’s lifetime and at different rates for

different individuals. CogAT does not measure such factors as effort, attention, motivation,

or work habits, which contribute to school achievement as well.

The Parent Portal app is still not currently working. A repair ticket has been issued to the State. You can access Parent Portal by using a computer or a browser on your phone. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the office.

You can find Ms. Ayers at Buncombe County Public Libraries (county-wide)!

Stop by and drop in from 1:00-3:00 PM.

Students will be able to connect with students from their area, learn to be library users, and build community relations.

Zoe Dental has a free clinic on Saturday, April 22nd. Registration starts at 7 am but many people line up much earlier. Each person can receive a free cleaning OR extraction OR filling.

• We would love to KNOW & SEE which/what book (s) you are reading.
• Share a picture of you and your book OR draw an illustration of your book!
• We are creating a visual of our love of literacy each day with new connections you make when you read!
