What do I need to do?

Choose a favorite character from one of your books and search around your house for things you can use to dress up, just like your favorite book character!

How will others know who my book character is?

A great way for others to know who you are while parading is to bring your book. This way, others may want to read that book and get to know your character better.

Do I wear my costume to school?

Yes, plan on wearing your costume to school so we can have our character parade in the morning shortly after our school day begins.

When and where will we parade our costumes for others to see?

Our hope is for a great weather day where we can parade outside. If not, our plan will be to parade in two large spaces...the gym and cafe.

Can families come to the parade?

As much as we would love to have families visit, there is not enough space for everyone to join us, so we will take plenty of pictures and share them with you on Class Dojo!

What if your child doesn't want to participate?

If your child has never experienced this before, think of it as dressing up for Halloween, but instead, it is a favorite book character. You might feel funny as you leave your house to come to school, but when you arrive at school you will see many other kids dressed up!

Can I change out of my costume if I want to after the parade is over?

Yes, your teacher will help make a plan for your class to change if you want to wear other clothes you bring to school. If you want to wear your costume all day, that is great too as long as it doesn't interfere with the other parts of your school day.

Please note: We do not celebrate Halloween at school, so we do not have a Halloween dress-up day.
