Tiger Weekly Update!
Belleville High School
BHS Update - Week of September 19th
Greetings BHS Families!
This is week #4 of Semester 1 (can you believe it?!). Students are getting into their routines and high levels of learning have begun! As we have returned to in-person learning, and regardless of whether your student was a virtual learner or an in-person learner last year, monitoring their progress is more important now than ever before. It is critical that you monitor the ParentConnect portal frequently to keep abreast of your student’s progress. If you are unable to gain access to the portal, please contact any of our offices for support.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Student Handbook: Beginning last week, BHS Administrators had conducted meetings with each grade level, explaining important areas of the Student Handbook (including the Dress Code Pilot). This handbook contains students’ rights and responsibilities - and is therefore extremely important that they read and understand. Please find the handbook HERE.
COVID Calls and Emails: Last week, we had several standard emails and voice calls go out, which raised concerns by many. Please see the assurance statement below from Nurse Munoz, as well as information on our FREE Vaccination Clinic, which begins next Monday, Sept. 27th for the first dose and Monday, October 18th for the second dose.
Van Buren Public Schools is working closely with the Wayne County Health Department on a regular basis regarding positive cases in our district. Many of you are aware that MDHHS included Belleville High School on their Michigan Schools Outbreak report. MDHHS publishes this information as a weekly report to keep our communities informed. It is important to remember that the term "outbreak" is applied to an educational institution that has two or more cases of COVID-19. It is also important to remember that none of the cases in our district have been found to share an epidemiological link to one another (none have been contracted during the school day). As always, student and staff safety is our top priority as we work hard to maintain a safe environment while also providing quality education. If you have further questions, please contact District Nurse Dionisia Munoz at dmunoz@vanburenschools.net or at 734.697.1019.
Teacher Vacancies: The district's HR Department and BHS Administration have been working tirelessly to recruit and hire dedicated staff amidst an unprecedented shortage of teacher candidates. While we have only a few openings left, be assured that classes are being supported by current teachers who know and are monitoring the curriculum. If you know of certified teacher who are not currently working (or who would be available on a part time basis), please share this link with them: tinyurl.com/BHSTigerTeam. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact Principal Crockett directly (ncrockett@vanburenschools.net).
Follow Us for Good News: Our students and staff are ALWAYS doing great things! If you enjoy good news, and up to the minute updates, be sure to follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/BellevilleHighSchool/
