9/11-9/15
Message
It has been an amazing start to the school year! The kids come running into the building with huge smiles and it stays that way until they leave. I love getting to know all of our new students!
If you were not able to attend new student orientation, kindergarten orientation, or you just want a refresher, please be sure to check out our Franklin Building Orientation Presentation by clicking https://bit.ly/3r1IAd0! This has critical information about our day.
On Monday, September 11, please have your child wear red, white, and blue. We will be honoring Patriot Day.
Please consider joining our Franklin Elementary PTO or joining a committee for a special event. Our PTO is the perfect place to get your voice heard and you do not have to volunteer for anything if you do not want to. We just want as many family voices at the table as possible. You are an important part of making Franklin such a great place to be. Our first meeting is on Tuesday, 9.19 at 7:00pm. There is more information below on our PTO.
We look forward to an amazing year with your students!

Franklin Mumkins Fundraiser
It’s MUM time!!! So far we have sold 348 mums from 78 students!
Let's keep going! The kids are very excited to let me know how much they want to spray me with silly string.
Please help us reach our fundraising goal of 1,000 items sold to continue bolstering Franklin Elementary’s STEM program. This year we are working on our outdoor education. Each grade level will be planting, gardening, coding a farming robot, and so much more! We cannot make this happen without you!

The Counselor’s Corner
September 2023 Newsletter
Welcome to Franklin!
My name is Meagan Neumann, Franklin’s school counselor for the 2023-2024 school year. This is my third (3rd) year at Franklin, and 10th year at Wadsworth City Schools. It’s been a pleasure seeing returning students, as well as getting to know our new students and families this year! I’m looking forward to making more connections, building friendships, and helping our students learn and grow! You can learn more about me HERE.
Parent/Guardian Needs Assessment: I would love to hear from you! Please provide feedback on this Parent Guardian Needs Assessment. I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on how I can best support you and your student(s) this year and beyond!
New Student Celebration: We have many new faces at Franklin! I will be hosting a New Student Celebration with our new students in grades first (1st) through fourth (4th) grade. Students will have a chance to connect with other peers, while participating in a fun activity and enjoying a treat with me!
Minute Meetings: Minute Meetings are exactly how they sound: I take a minute (or two) to meet one-on-one with EVERY student at Franklin, to connect and get to know them a little better. This helps me determine if students need help with making friends, connecting with their teacher/staff, and answering any other questions that they may have. Minute Meetings will begin in September.
Weekender Bags by Feeding Medina County: Feeding Medina County provides weekly food bags to students/families who may need a little extra support with snacks, canned foods, and other food staples. This program is free of cost. A permission form to participate in this program went home in the red folders with students. If you need another permission form to complete, please let me know and I’ll send one home with your student. The program has already started for this school year. There is no limit as to how many students/families can participate, and I can add to our list at any time. Please feel free to reach out by phone or email with any questions.
Backpack Connection: This awesome program is provided by our wonderful PTO members! Backpack Connection has the same concept of Weekender Bags (see above), only these bags consist of easy snacks that are ready to eat. These bags also go home weekly with students.
Question: Can students get both Weekender Bags and Backpack Connection Bags?
Answer: YES! We can definitely provide both bags for students, if there is the need. All you have to do is contact me with your request.
Small Counseling Groups: I offer small group counseling throughout the school year. Topics vary from stress management/coping skills, friendships/social skills, changing families, to executive functioning/impulse control. Several students have asked me when I will begin groups. I plan on starting groups in October. If you have any questions about small group counseling, please contact me.
Guidance Lessons: We will begin next week! Be on the lookout for information on what we’re learning.
Girls on the Run...Is so much fun! I will be coaching Girls on the Run again in Spring 2024! This amazing program will be available for our third (3rd) and fourth (4th) grade girls. The season is typically 10 weeks long, with a celebratory 5k “race” at the end! Interested in learning more or becoming a coach for the season? Visit www.gotrnortheastohio.org.
I’m looking forward to a great school year with you and your children!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Neumann
