A NOTE FROM MRS. ABROMAITIS
It is hard to believe that the first half of the school year is almost over. We have so much to be proud of and thankful for. Perhaps your child has been involved in Baking Class or Kindness Club. Cupcake Decorating class is coming soon! We had our first in-person concert in years right before break, and students GSRP and 4 year old preschool through sixth grade performed for a packed house. Perhaps when you were here, you saw the new entry mats and our Bookworm Vending Machine. Thank you to PTA for bringing back Santa's Secret Shop. Thank you to the donors of the Birthday Book Club and the Giving Tree- both of which support our Media Center. Thank you to the many families who have volunteered in the classrooms for different events so far this year. Finally a big thank you to Mr. Klee and the staff for their help in making the Holiday Spectacular a huge success!
As you know, we are continuing to work at school safety and keeping students and staff as safe as possible at school. So far this year, we have participated in a safety audit and regular meetings, installed exterior light fixtures, single point entry and exit for guests, exterior doors locked at all times and monitored at the beginning and end of each day, routine door checks throughout the day, pick-up and drop-off routines, utilize security cameras, participate in up-to-date training for staff and conduct safety drills, work on relationships, renewed association with OK2SAY, and maintain a strong partnership with local law enforcement. We ask that you remind your child what is and is not appropriate to talk about at school, games to play and not play at school, and items that should and should not be brought to school- especially as they pertain to school safety. Perhaps most important, remind/encourage your child if they see or hear something to say something to a trusted adult as soon as possible.
Mother Nature seems to be teasing us a bit, but colder weather is on the way. Please be sure to send your child to school with winter apparel. Whenever it is appropriate to do so, we will be going outside to get fresh air and play during recess. Appropriate winter clothing includes: winter coat, hat, mittens/gloves, boots, snow pants, and perhaps a scarf. Materials that are wet resistant are best especially for hats and gloves/mittens. We strongly recommend that EVERY piece of winter gear has your child’s name in it. Lost and found is located in the south stairwell. If you need assistance, please contact your child’s teacher or the main office; we can help!
We want you to be informed! Please be sure that you update the main office with any changes in your contact information. If you are receiving some of our notifications but not others, you may want to check spam/social/promotion folders and blocked settings. You can always verify that the information the school has is accurate by contacting the main office. We do our best to keep families as informed as possible but are limited to the information we have on file.
During the break the school was cleaned and sanitized to help reduce the spread of colds, flu, and the like. Please help us by exercising your best judgment and consider keeping your child home if they are not feeling well or running a fever. Don’t forget to call the main office and get a doctor’s note when you can. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the main office, we will help answer questions as best we can.
Our goal is to continue to work diligently to support the needs of our Cardinal families. Please reach out if there is something we can do to help.
Mrs. Abromaitis
