CELEBRATIONS!
Great things are happening at WCS!
On Wednesday, we were treated to a visit from former Wildcat MHS seniors! The high schoolers got to tour the building and see some familiar teachers and classrooms while our students & staff applauded. We can't wait to see how these young people go on to change the world!
LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE MONDAY!
LOST & FOUND
Please remember to check the Lost & Found for any of your missing items. Currently, we have a wide selection of sweatshirts! All items will be donated after the last day of school.
6/14: FLAG DAY
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Our 8th grade class wrapped up their week-long trip to Washington, D.C. and have returned home! The students showed incredible discipline and respect while on the trip. They did an outstanding job representing our school, community, and the state in our nation's capitol, and we are so proud of them!
HORSING AROUND
Ms. Gibbs' class attended a field trip to Triple J Farm in Bowdoin on Thursday. Students learned how to ride, clean stalls, brush horses and feed horses. Students were able to ride horses, Dell and Isabelle. This field trip was the culmination of a study of horses that students participated in throughout the year.
SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT
- IT'S OFFICIAL: The last day of school for K-12 will be Thursday, June 22! This will be a half day for students, with dismissal happening at 11:55am. The last day of school for Pre-K will be June 15th!
- Field Day is happening next Thursday on 6/15. Please send your student dressed in light-weight clothing and make sure they have water to stay hydrated!
- We had a fire drill this week and students and staff followed procedures perfectly. Having a plan at school is important, but so is having one for home. Talk with your student to be sure they know what to do in case of a fire at home.
This is the place to get all your WCS-branded clothing and accessories.
ODYSSEY OF THE MIND
The Woolwich Central School Odyssey of the Mind program has been going strong and growing to accommodate more students each year. This is a free program that hosts teams of seven that meet weekly and create original solutions that are presented at the annual problem solving competition each March.
Next school year 2023-2024 there are coaches for k-2 and 7th grade teams. There is a need for coaches for 3-4th grade and 5-6th grade teams.
Coach qualifications:
-1-2 hours available weekly from January through March (approximately 10-12 sessions).
-comfortable coordinating a group of 7 students.
-comfortable interfacing with parents to coordinate snacks, meeting time, and communicating about the program.
-agree to allow the students to lead the group with their own ideas and interests.
Coaches are supported by the program coordinator and fellow coaches & offered free training from the Maine Odyssey of the Mind chapter.
If you are interested in volunteering, or have questions about coaching, please reach out to Anita Lichman (parent, volunteer coordinator and coach) at anitarlichman@gmail.com.
