Weekly Update ~ November 28, 2016
P/T Conference Make-ups:
If you were unable to meet with your student’s teachers last week during the designated days, and still wish to have a conference, the District asks that you contact them as soon as possible. We strongly recommend that you make arrangements with teachers this week to schedule your make up conference. It is our goal to have all conferences completed by the end of this week, if possible. Thank you.
Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
Beginning the week of December 5th, students will take part in the winter STAR assessment. Our window for winter testing will conclude December 16th. The STAR assessment is a computer-adaptive assessment, adjusting the difficulty of the test based on a child's previous responses.
Students in kindergarten will take the Early Literacy Test. In grades 1-8, students will take the Reading and Math STAR assessments. Results will be shared with parents in the weeks following the conclusion of the testing window.
In order to prepare your child for these assessments, we know you will encourage your child to do his or her best on testing dates. A good night's rest, a healthy breakfast and arriving on time for school are also important to help students do their best.
Additional information related to the STAR assessment can be found on the district website, under 'About' and 'Curriculum & Instruction'. Then, select 'Assessment Information' along the left side. On this webpage, you will find two links with information about the STAR assessment.
