What a year it has been! We cannot believe that we are approaching the last few days of school. Our last day of school for students is Wednesday, May 26th. It has been a difficult yet wonderful school year. We have all grown in so many ways! We would like to thank all of the parents, students, and staff for all the support and hard work this year. We hope that you have a relaxing and enjoyable summer and are able to spend time with family and friends!

We want to wish all of our 5th grade Jaguars a wonderful summer! We are so proud of the students that you are and we know that you will represent us well when you move on to the middle school. We hope that when you leave us, you remember all that you have learned while you were at Jefferson. You will certainly be missed by all! Good luck!

We are so proud of the following students for demonstrating their PRIDE behavior! Their teachers have chosen them as they continue to set good examples for their classmates. These students are kind, respectful, and continue to work hard every single day. We thank them for being leaders and excellent role models for their peers.

Our drop off day for virtual student Chromebooks and hotspots will be on Thursday, May 27th. Please come to Thomas Jefferson anytime between the hours of 8:45 am and 2:45 pm. Please make sure that you bring the chargers for the Chromebook as well as your hotspot if you have one. You can pull up to the gym doors and we will have our virtual teachers there to collect the devices from you. If you have any questions, please call the office.

Thank you to Mrs. Ehinger and Ms. DiNunzio for their diligent work in the clinic. They worked very hard this year to keep everyone safe. We appreciate all their hard work and we are glad to have them on our Jefferson staff.

Miss Jacque has worked to help many students and families this school year. She recognizes special needs that students might have outside of academics and works with students in multiple settings. She might take a lunch group or go into a classroom or just simply check in on students to see how they are. We are lucky to have her in our building several days a week.

We would also like to recognize and thank all of our Para Professionals and Project Help tutors for all of their support this school year. Each of them has an important role and we could not do what we do as well without them!

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Special education means specially designed instruction, at no cost to the parent, to meet the unique needs of a handicapped child. Special Education Programs are provided for all children who have a handicapping disability. A disability in this instance means conditions such as hearing impairments, visual impairments, speech or language impairments, learning disabilities, mental retardations, other health impairments, physical impairments, autism, and traumatic brain injury. Every handicapped child in Ohio is entitled to services provided by the school district in which they reside, including children with disabilities who are homeless children or are wards of the state. These services include: evaluation services for all children birth through twenty-one years, diagnostic services for all children birth through age t years of age, and educational programs for children three through twenty-one years of age. If you know of a child who is handicapped or at risk and NOT receiving services, please contact the Willoughby-Eastlake City School District’s Pupil Service Office at 440-975-3800.

Thank you to our wonderful intervention specialists that work hard to support all of our students on IEP's. They are a wonderful resource for teachers and work with many students at all grade levels throughout the building.

Thank you to these wonderful ladies for preparing lunch and breakfast for all of our students all year! We appreciate all that they do to make sure our students are eating healthy each day.

These ladies are like the mailman! They endure all types of weather. They are outside in the cold, rain, and heat. They work to keep all of our students safe every day! This is a thankless job! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!

It is not too early to begin thinking about the next school year. Save yourself some time and money and consider ordering your child's school supplies ahead of time. Jefferson Elementary offers the EduKit program as a convenient option for busy families to order school supplies for the 2021/2022 year. EduKits include the supplies approved by our school.

Your student’s order will be in the classroom on the first day of school.

Extended ordering is available June 16 – July 23 for an additional fee and will be delivered to your home shortly before school begins.
