I hope you all enjoyed the nice, long weekend! The weather was absolutely perfect. It was so great to see all of the students filling the school with their joy. It was quite a start to the school year with the fire department needing to be called to the building on the 2nd day of school and kindergarten's first day of school. Looking forward to a more uneventful week this week!
Clough School is not just a place of education, it's a place where dreams are nurtured, talents are discovered, and friendships are formed. I am so excited to see so many familiar faces returning this year, and I am equally excited to welcome so many new members to our school family. Thank you for those families that provided feedback last year. I heard a common message that families want to have more opportunities for school events. I am pleased to invite all of our families to what will hopefully be our first annual Welcome Back Picnic Wednesday night, Sept. 6! We will be gathering together from 6:00-8:00pm on the back field. There will be live music, borrowed lawn games from the Taft Public Library, and of course gaga ball and playground fun. Families are welcome to bring their own picnic dinner. We will also have two food trucks available to purchase food from. There will be Three Sons Grilled Cheese food truck as well as an Italian Street Food Truck with a kid friendly menu added. The PTO will also be providing popcorn! Come enjoy visiting with other Clough families and help us welcome everyone back to school! We will also be kicking off our Shoe Drive Fundraiser so feel free to bring any gently used shoes to donate!
Our theme this year at Clough is "Constructing Stories, Building Connections." We already had a great time kicking off the year with staff using our construction theme. As the quote says, "The road to success is always under construction." I look forward to partnering with all of you to construct and build this year; we will be building relationships, building knowledge, and building futures! Just like builders use tools to construct magnificent structures, we will use the tools of curiosity, dedication, and hard work to construct a year filled with achievements and successes. Just like any construction project, there might be challenges along the way, but together, we will overcome them and celebrate our victories, big and small.
Clough caregivers, your involvement and support with your child's education is invaluable to us. Your partnership strengthens the foundation upon which our students' success is built. Looking forward to collaborating with you to make this a remarkable year for all of our students.
