Hello, Wonderful Linder Families!

This is Mrs. Rodriguez with a few reminders as we gear up for another wonderful week of learning and growing together!

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! We are looking forward to learning all about the contributions of our Hispanic ancestors from all over the world. Mr. Lira and I are reading with our classes this month to share all about our Hispanic heritage.

Thank you for signing up for a parent conference with your student's teacher. On September 25th we will have our Parent Teacher Conference Day at Linder. Students will not have school on Monday, September 25th due to conferences. Teachers will share important information with you regarding your student's academic progress and share student goals for the year.

As a reminder, a key factor in the success of our students is their daily attendance. Please help ensure your student is at school daily unless they are sick or have a fever. As a reminder, all students should be fever free without fever reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school. If a student is absent, please be sure to provide a note to the front office or call 512-414-2398 if you have any questions.

We are looking forward to another great week of learning and growing.

Updates:

• On September 25th we will have our Parent Teacher Conference Day at Linder. Students will not have school on Monday, September 25th due to conferences. Please sign up with your student's teacher.
  
• We will have PTA sign up this week! Please join our PTA to help us support our Eagles!
• School begins at 7:40. School is over at 3:10.
• Bring a water bottle. We have water refill stations.
• Students have recess everyday and should wear shoes they can safely play in.

• All arrival and dismissal is at our front drive. Please drive slowly through the front drive. Please be patient.
• All students will receive free breakfast and lunch for the year.
• Bus rider drop off begins first at 7:05.
• Parent drop off begins at 7:15, after buses clear.

Hispanic Heritage Month a month-long celebration from September 15 to October 15 dedicated to recognizing the contributions of the Hispanic and Latino populations in the country, is significant in many different ways.

Any changes to how your child gets home need to be communicated to the front office by no later than 1PM.

We will continue to encourage our students to eat healthy at school.

Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value will not be allowed for snacks during the day. This includes candy, soda, and chips. We will share healthy snack options with families and students. Please privately remind students and remind families of our snack expectations if they bring a snack that is an FMNV.

A quick and healthy option readily available are the fruit options provided with our BIC. We will continue to inform and share ideas as we begin our Brighter Bites lessons, as well.

• For the safety of everyone, behave appropriately with no loud noises.

• Stay in your assigned seat, facing forward.
• Keep hands, head and feet inside the bus.
• Do not drop or throw objects inside or outside the bus.
• Do not eat or drink, except water, while on the bus.
• Do not litter on the bus.
• No inappropriate language.
• No weapons, alcohol or drugs, including tobacco.
• No physical or verbal altercations.
• No skateboards
• Buckle up at all times

Consequences for violations:

1. First violation: Principal or assistant principal will conference with student. Suspension from the bus may occur with this violation. Parents or guardians will be notified.
2. Second violation: Student will be suspended from the bus for three school days. Parents or guardian will be notified.
3. Third violation: Student will be suspended from the bus for an extended period of time until agreement can be reached between parents, guardians, administrator, bus driver, transportation supervisor and student.

Hello Team Austin ISD,

We are excited to announce the launch of our new AISD Help application, which will replace ServiceNow, to assist us in providing better support to meet the needs of our staff.

Beginning Monday, September 18, Austin ISD staff, students and parents will use the AISD Help icon in the Austin ISD Portal (pictured below) to submit support tickets.

AISD Help has user-friendly features including:

• A simple and clear user-interface

• Direct routing of tickets to the correct corresponding team

• Screencast-recording feature built into the tickets

• Single sign-on access through the AISD Portal for staff, students and families

Our goal with the new AISD Help application is to streamline our support, resolve issues efficiently and reduce overall costs, which are reasons why we are transitioning away from ServiceNow.

Please Note: This will not affect Let’s Talk, which will remain operational through the website.

We want to thank you for your continued support, patience and flexibility as we continue to make innovative changes to better support our staff, families and district. There is a new Parent Portal feature that will allow parents/guardians/adults student to virtually access IEP/504 documentation, progress reports, and other documents. To learn how to use this feature, please follow the link here.

We want to ensure that we can make our school dismissal process as efficient as possible, but please know that dismissal may take longer than usual during the first few weeks of school as we try to get all students to the proper location. We appreciate your patience and flexibility in this regard. Additionally, we would like to inform you that there is ongoing construction in the neighborhood so you may have to take an alternative route to arrive to Linder.

The Austin ISD Student Success Guide (Student Code of Conduct) is now available on the Austin ISD District website for students, parents, and guardians to review. One important legislative update is that ALL e-cigarettes (THC and Tobacco) are prohibited. House Bill 114 requires a student to be placed in the District Alternative Education Program (DAEP) if the student possesses, uses, is under the influence, sells, gives, or delivers marijuana, THC, or an e-cigarette (new) while on campus, within 300 feet of school property, or at a school-related event. Under Austin ISD guidelines, this is a 20-day DAEP placement. Parents and guardians are strongly urged to talk to their students about this new policy and review the Student Success Guide to help keep our schools safe for students and staff.
