Bobcat Bulletin Week of 8/28/23

Dear Puentes Middle School Community,

We completed four weeks testing this week. Next week, teachers will have students track where they are so they can see their progress.

On Monday, we will be celebrating the life of SSG Manuel R Puentes. His birthday is on August 27th and we will commemorate him by wearing red, white and blue. Your child may wear jeans with a patriotic shirt for this event. Our Social Studies teachers will have a lesson to learn about Mr. Puentes as well as Vietnam MIA/POWs.

We continue to have attendance percentages over 95%. A reminder, If you child is absent, remember to SEND A NOTE or EMAIL us with a reason. You do not need a doctor's note. A simple handwritten note or email will allow us to code the absence as EXCUSED. This will NOT GO TOWARD LOC. Always send a note to avoid Loss of Credit.

We are halfway to Intersession! If you ever need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff. We pride ourselves on excellent and prompt customer service.

Please talk to your child about Social Media chats this week. We have had a few instances where students were included in an unwelcome chat with other students. Here are a few things parents can do to assist your child in managing their accounts:

1. Your child's social media should be set to private. Review settings regularly. This is especially important since your child is a minor.
2. Have your child share their password with you and check on messages/communications regularly. You own the phone; you can check it.
3. Do not allow them to share their password with friends. Change their password regularly.
4. Show them how to block anyone they don't know. If they have settings on private, messages from outside sources are in a separate folder. They should block these accounts.
5. They should never open a picture unless they are sure of the sender and the content.
6. Airdrop for iPhone should be disabled to ensure they do not receive unsolicited items.
