Breakfast & Lunch continue to be FREE for all TK-5th grade students this year. Please check the district website for the monthly menus. https://www.etiwanda.k12.ca.us/page/menus
1st Day of School:
The first day of school is a special occasion with lots of feelings and emotions from both students and adults! We open our campus for arrival on the first day of school to help our families celebrate the new school year, take pictures, greet their new teachers, and wave/hug goodbyes as their class leaves the playground to walk to the classroom.
*Please anticipate that there will be very little to no parking available on the first day of school. You may need to utilize the neighboring streets to find parking and walk over.
On the second day of school, we will return to a closed, secure campus for the remainder of the school year. This will begin our daily drop and go routine along the yellow curbs in both parking lots.
1st Day Photo Opportunities:
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ONLY: Our gates will be open from 7:40-8:15am to provide families an opportunity to take pictures with the individual grade level "Welcome Back to School" banners!
Preschool & TK banners will be hanging on the small playground.
K-2 banners will be hanging on the big playground in front of the B building.
3-5 banners will be hanging on the big playground in front of the B building.

All Day Kindergarten!
Kinder is now ALL DAY! It will follow the same daily schedule as 1st-5th grade.
Mondays: 8:15am - 1:15pm
Tuesday - Fridays: 8:15am - 2:45pm
Please send your kinder student with a backpack and snack (optional). We are no longer providing the clear kinder bags.
First Week of School: We will have 4th & 5th grade leadership students ready to help guide your Kinder student onto campus and learn their morning routines.
Kinder & 1st Grade Students:
We have made special color coded backpack tags for each kinder and first grade class. This will help our leadership students, and adults on duty, to quickly identify our kinder and first grade students at arrival. We will have them ready to hand out at our Meet & Greet and the first day of school.

Birthday Shout Outs!
Perdew Elementary School has implemented a “no food items” approach to celebrating birthdays within the school day. Teachers will acknowledge birthdays in a special way such as a birthday crown, singing happy birthday, allowing a child to share a special book with the class, etc.
You are more than welcome to bring in non-food birthday celebrations items that can easily be distributed at the end of class.
Reasons for this change include health concerns and loss of instructional time. Many of our students have health concerns related to food, including allergies, obesity, diabetes, and sensitivities to dyes.
Thank you for supporting us in our efforts to keep students healthy and maximize learning time at school.

Trimester 1 Dates:
Free and Reduced-Price Meals, Subsidized Child Care & Transportation:
Beginning with the upcoming 2023-24 school year, the Etiwanda School District is reintroducing the Federal Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FRPM) application as a way to identify and assist families who require financial support. By completing this application, families who qualify on the FRPM may become eligible for subsidized child care or transportation costs, ensuring that their children have access to essential services. We understand that financial circumstances can change from year to year, which is why income eligibility is an annual requirement. To continue receiving assistance, it is important for families to complete the application each year. We encourage all eligible families to take this opportunity and complete the FRPM application. Your participation is vital in helping us identify and assist those in need within our Etiwanda School District community. Complete the FRPM application today and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow for your family! Applying online is the quickest and most convenient way to apply!
